    Default Lyrics

Hey, I've copy and paste it. It's better :-)

I don't think it mentioned thru out the series who told Benny that he is the son of the Suen family. My guess is Ying Gu is the one that told him since she is his Mom's sister.

My only complain on this series is I wish they show more on Yammie instead of just the first few episodes. She still look great after all these years.

I don't think so. When I saw tape 15... it showed Benny thinking how his mom got pregnant & died & who was his mom.

I think he went and looked into his birth himself. He wanted to know if his blood related aunt "Ying Goo" missed her sister & regretted what happened to her & her son.

I slo agree that Yammie had too short of an air time in this series.

    Default Yammie

I believe I read somewhere about why Yammie did not get a lot of screen time. It seems that her health was in jeopardy and her doctor advised her to take some rest and not to overstress herself. But also according to a few tabloids magazine, she suffered from severe phycological problems and was creating havoc on the set and did not get along well with the cast. To prevent any unwanted incident, the director had to cut short her role.

I do know that Yammie was hospitalized recently for depression and tried to commit suicide. Just have no idea if that was during filming or after filming.

I saw an interview with her on Jade Blitz that eventhough she has fully recovered, she admitted to being suffering from severe depression and had to be monitored closely. She is also taking anti depressants drugs which unabled her to carry on acting and performing.

What a pity really since I did enjoyed her character so much in this series. Anyway, just wishing her all the best and hopefully, she will get out of her depression soon and be working on more great series.

I heard about Yammie's depression too but I tot she was fully recovered by now. Currently I believe she is doing some beauty products advertisement. But also very sad for her condition being hospitalized, taking anti-depress drugs etc.

Somehow, I find the story line on this series is a bit vague. Some of the story was not covered and revealed. The viewers seems to be guessing what actually went on in this series. Hmmm....maybe I should re-watch this series and see if I missed anything or not.

Yeah, I had to rewatch it too.

I'm guessing Yammie found out and told Benny about his birth history? I mean, that's the only possibility. If Yammie role had really been shortened, that could be why it's missing. ... just my guess.

Was she wearing contact lenses in that series? Her eyes look..... hmm.... ??? Oh yeah, she still looks so classy and poised.

I've at Ep. 34 right now and things heating up in the Suen's family but I also feel the long dreaded DRAGGGGGGGGGG...... Ugh .... I have Ep. 35 and 36 lying on my TV room and I couldn't be bothered to watch on. You see. this is the part where the screenwriters, in order to fulfill 40 episodes does all this stupid flashback things with the character in order to keep the time running and I hated it.

ATV is even worse in the sense that they had Amy dreaming a whole 10-15 mins. scene with Steven about the consenquences of revealing her trueself to him. Can you imagine how frustuating that was?? The whole dream scene is really one stupid scene because it does nothing to the story aside from trying to tell viewers that if she reveal her trueself, that she is the woman in the wooden house 8 years ago and she is the woman who stole his heart for 7 nights..then something bad will happen. What?? Are we that stupid to think that anything good will come out of it? The worst part was to have Sau Tong (Steven's wife) trying to shoot herself in the head when she found out about them. I nearly laughed my belly out.

Anyway, will see if I neeed to fast forward anymore scenes...what a pity. WHere is Benny when I need him? Huh....

I agree it should not drag along.

I do praise Benny for telling Amy the truth about her so-called love/husband and children. He now would have other things to do & think about.

That was the episode that really get boring. I was also tempted to fast forward on eps 34. Almost the entire show it was dragged to a longer series when they keep showing all the flashbacks on Amy & Steve in the little hut for 7 nights and touching each others face blindfolded. Gosh....

In Cantonese version, it had only 36 episodes but still I think it is too long due to all the flashbacks. But I'm glad there are not many flashbacks on Benny and Kiew Yee. At least it gets to the point on their pasts.

I think I'm around 65% done with this series

So glad I rented this series and gave it a shot. It's very refreshing and really really good, in my opinion. I'm impressed with what I've seen. I thought it was very well-done how Amy and Steve developed their relationship via the 7 nights in that house to have sex so that Amy could have a son for the family. At first they just sat there and were very distant. Didn't do anything and were uncomfortable. Slowly they interacted and gradually gained the other's "trust." Through a series of helping each other out they became "aware" that the other was a good person. Finally with the help of the wine, they slept together. The days that follow led them closer and love binded their fates. It was great how Amy said "Waiting for someone is so painful and it was that night that was the longest"

It resembled how a real relationship happens. Two people meet and slowly gain each other's trust and find that they share something in common. Steve bringing his town's wine for Amy to drink was symbolic of him showing her home to his mother. Ultimately the sex brought them to a higher level of love.

My favorite character in this series is Auntie Kiu. At first I hated her so much for being so cruel. But as they developed her character, I totally loved her. It's so sad how she became blind and her relationship with Amy is so cute and funny. I loved their lines and Auntie Kiu is very admirable and funny. The way the two interacted and converse is very amusing. For example, she saved Amy after she got kidnapped. She says, "Why are you useless? Every time I see you, you're always tied up." Hahaha. She loves Amy so much and I really adore her. Her death scene was very very sad.

Amy says "Auntie Kiu, why did you have to come all the way here even though you know you are sick? Just to say you care about me? Well, I hate you!! You better go to a good place and be happy, or else I'll blame myself and never be at ease" then she cries on Steve's shoulder. So touching.

I feel really bad for Ma Su. Being forced to marry a poor person and prior to that being lied to and deceived of her feelings (by that servant who took the money and left). Just when she accepted Steve and they became loving, she finds out she can't have babies. Then Steve falls for Amy and she realizes that she's no longer the woman in his heart. I feel so bad for her and I don't blame her for her actions. How can someone stay happily married if the you're not in that other person's heart? She does love Steve a lot and you can tell through her subtle expressions and actions. It was sweet when she wanted to buy a gift for him (of course she didn't know what he likes or wants, but that's another story.....) and how she rushed to see if he was ok.

I do agree it's getting a little draggy. The constant flashbacks are annoying and repetitive, but I loved those scenes in the house, so I don't mind. Haha. However, I really wish they would find out about each other already. *sigh*

Steve's son is so annoying and I feel sad how spoiled and bratty he is. Of course this characterization is only approriate as everyone in the family doesn't dare displease him cause they need him to carry on the future generations. It's cute when Amy taught him manners and everything. Already I can see mother-son sparks between the two. He became quite adorable after Amy raised him to say "please, thank you, sorry."

The mother and father of the family are also my favorites. She cares about the family a lot, maybe too much. It's sad how she stresses the FAMILY NAME over everything else, even though it's apparent that she has deep feelings for things and can see everyone's motives. I feel sorry for her. She has to carry the weight of the family on her shoulders and can never rest at ease. The father is a very interesting character. I think he's faking to be "crazy" so that he doesn't have to deal with the chaos/back-stabbing/suck-ups in the family.

I hate the eunuch so much. His scenes irk me and I especially hated the scenes with him and his adopted son. Both are so annoying. Thank god his son got kicked out of the family and got his arm broken

Right now I'm at the part where the mother got justice for her son who got killed. Honestly it's somewhat slow at this point and I felt somehow uninterested. However, I'm still liking this series and hope it picks up again soon. I can't wait to watch more and finish this series.

    Hi MAW!

You summarized the series very well. I agree with you on every character in this show. I better not spoil the show for you since you come close to the ending soon, eventually you will finish watching it.

I have the soundtrack to this series and the songs are good. I don't really like these types of series though. My brother wants to see it though... I heard that Yammie was only a guest star. Wasn't that already planned before they even started filming? I heard about her condition too and hope that she gets better. How was her performance in this series??? Is it worth seeing(since my brother wants to see it)??? I heard that Yammie's character died in this series,is that true? How did she die and how many episodes is she in?

i forgot how many episodes she was in... but she was gone pretty early in the show... she gave a great performance though...

Thanks for your response. I heard that she was only in it towards the beginning. Too bad she couldn't be in it longer....

I think she stayed until ep 5 or 6. can't remember which one exactly, but her performance was very good, and it made me feel very depressed, but later scenes just put me off after she died. (e.g. no burial part)
