IMPRISONED hotel heiress Paris Hilton has said she believes God has given her a new chance and she plans to stop acting dumb and put her influence to good use.

Hilton called television journalist Barbara Walters yesterday from the medical wing of a Los Angeles jail, where she is being held for violating probation in a drink-driving case, and Walters recounted the conversation on her television show, The View.

“I'm not the same person I was,” Hilton told Walters.

“I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me.

“I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance.”

Hilton was ordered back to jail on Friday after a judge overruled a sheriff's decision to place her under house arrest the day before because of psychological problems.

She had spent three days of an expected three-week term behind bars.

so she's just acting dumb huh.. why i wonder? hmm.. cos she's dumb? ah that makes sense..

And she might be able to sue the County or the Sheriffs Dept. for undue duress or some other inmate pulling her hair for even more millions.

Paris Hilton says in an interview from jail she's a changed woman who now appreciates "things I took for granted" and plans to use her fame "in a good way."

"I'm so much more grateful for everything that I have, even just to have a pillow at night or food," Hilton told E! News's Ryan Seacrest in a phone conversation from Century Regional Correctional Facility.

Hilton, who is scheduled to be released next week, says she plans to use her celebrity for good – and doesn't want to be the object of ridicule anymore.

"You know my gratitude has gone up so much and I just realize that the media used me to make fun of and be mean about it," she tells Seacrest in the interview for Thursday's show. "Frankly [I'm] sick of it and I want to use my fame in a good way."

Of her life behind bars, Hilton, who was jailed for violating probation by driving with a suspended license, says it's been difficult being kept from her family: "I am behind glass and I want to give my dad a big hug and they won't even let me do that."

She also insists that she is not receiving any special treatment in jail. "That's how the rules are, you have to be behind glass," she said. "I'm not a criminal, I'm not dangerous, so it makes me feel like that. It's hard but I'm stronger everyday."

As for the future, Hilton says: "I just can't wait to see my family and have a nice meal and be in my own bed and appreciate all the things I took for granted and never really thought much about."

She said she was "so excited to start this new life" and added: "I think that there were a lot of bad people that I was around. I don't want to surround myself with those types of people anymore."

Seacrest told listeners that Hilton appreciates letters from fans and cries when she reads them in her bed alone. "These letters have really gotten me through some long days," Hilton said. "I have not received one negative letter. It really makes me happy that people care."

Asked when she'll be released, she replied: "I'm not sure, but I know in the next couple of days and I know this is my last weekend here. I will see you all when I get out."

Apparently reports are false that she is receiving any money at all for the interviews.

NBC Denies $1 Million Offer to Hilton

NEW YORK -- NBC News is denying reports that it has offered as much as $1 million for the first interview with Paris Hilton after her release from jail next week.

"We don't pay for interviews and we'll never pay for interviews, and I have no interview to confirm," NBC News spokeswoman Allison Gollust said Thursday night.

She did acknowledge the "common practice" of licensing pictures and video, but "I've never seen a deal like that for this kind of money."

The accusation arose from the ranks of ABC News, as first reported Thursday by the New York Post.

ABC had agreed to potentially pay up to $100,000 to the Hilton family for the interview as well as access to videos of Hilton and other material, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. But ABC was outflanked by an "astronomical" offer from NBC, the person said, citing information gained from the Hilton family.

Thursday night, Paris Hilton spokesman Elliot Mintz said, "I can't comment because I really and truly don't know."

He indicated he wouldn't necessarily be told if negotiations were ongoing.

The interview would apparently be targeted for NBC News' "Today" show, which has a fierce rivalry for high-profile "gets" with its ratings runner-up, ABC News' "Good Morning America."

Although network news divisions officially don't pay for interviews, the ban can be sidestepped in various ways, including shifting the negotiations to a network's entertainment division, which observes no such prohibitions.

Recently, NBC landed an exclusive interview with Britain's Princes William and Harry, which, conducted by Matt Lauer, aired Monday as an edition of "Dateline NBC."

I dun think it's right of us to say that what she's been saying about not going to act like a kiddy anymore are just false. well not before she does something stupid of course...this makes everything about her even more interesting..

This is completely unjust.

Why should Paris Hilton be freed many days prior to the day that she was supposed to be released? That is rubbish. And she is just a complete drama queen, starving herself etc. She should accept the fact that she made a mistake. And she should ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES.
