not that my opinion is really worth anything.

    1. i don't think you can hit those high notes. plain and simple. maybe because i really like the real version, but in my opinion, you sound nothing like eason. it's a hard song to sing, and i think it was just way out of your range. maybe a different song would have suited your voice better.

    2. i'm biased, and i normally hate viet songs, but i must say your's was very good. kudos!

    3. probably the most natural ability. very nice.

The thing is... it's not only a wuxia-themed song, but also a theme for a computer game I believe, which arouses the gamer mentality in me... O_o

若有你相伴, 不羡鸳鸯不羡仙... that line sticks in my head for some reason. Sounds romantic yet sad at the same time...

"Xian Jian Wen Qing" was the themesong for the 3rd part of Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan, a popular chinese computer game (the 1st part was made into a chinese serial which was very popular, also known as "Chinese Paladin") which is based on the fantasy wuxia genre, so it's still pretty "wuxia" i guess. The lyrics for the song are brilliant i think, very beautifully written..

I agree with what you said, especially number 1 and number 2. Based on perfection, number 2 was closer to perfection than number 3, so that's where my vote went.

It's time to come clean, since it looks like it won't affect the voting results anyway. I did entry number 1.

I only wish I sound like Eason. I know I don't. My voice is no where as rich as his, but I don't think I am offkey. If I am offkey, I am sorry. I've done this song a number of times during karaoke outings, and no one has ever mentioned that I am offkey so I don't know. I sang along the original before I recorded.

Let me go home tonight and recheck.

Here's the original version by Eason, if anyone wants to compare the notes.

Yeah I think the difficulty of the songs should be considered as well. I relistened and #1 is the most difficult I think. #3 doesn't seem to be that difficult (well to someone who knows how to sing, certainly not to amateurs like me hahaha).

i beg to differ (what else is new? ).
music is meant to be enjoyed - if it sounds good to your ears, or if it resonates with you in some way, then it shouldn't matter if the song is technically superior or challenging.

OMG, I actually agree with you on this one. If the song is difficult and would make you sound okay versus a more simple song that would make you sound awesome, I say pick the easier song.

It was just something to consider, people will vote for whoever they want. Whether you believe they should vote for a song they enjoy or whether I believe they should vote for a song that is technically challenging is of VERY little bearing. I'm just pointing out something, and what people choose to do with that, or whether they agree or not is ultimately up to the voter.

Well, that's your personal opinion Gugu, but personally, I admire someone who has the courage to try something challenging, and even if they don't hit all the notes 100%, at least they tried. If everyone thought this way, no one would ever improve and keep in their "safety range". Btw, not talking about anyone, just in general.

Whoever sang #3, I'm asking for permission right now. This song is going onto my CD. I hope you don't mind my friends listening to you in my car.

I think u are very bias against #1 because u like Eason's version very much. #3 doesn't sound like the original singer either or is she as good as the original singer and she's mumbling the lyrics sometimes. But u only have praises for her while u have nothing good to say about #1.

I agree with yearning. I was most impressed with #1 because he was able to sing such a difficult song. I was still contemplating who to choose because #2 sounds the smoothest and most natural, but #1 sings the most difficult song and actually does it well (although I agree that it's not perfect). And his pronunciation is very clear.

See, that's where I give effort marks. Even though I couldn't really understand what #3 was singing throughout the entire song, I think it impresses me that she tried to cross the language barrier to sing a song she wanted.
