Now's the time to show your moral fortitude or lack of...

What exactly are you hoping for by upgrading the score? Some sort of recognition from the other person or just the satisfaction of knowing you've helped out the person you like? Are you really helping them by bumping this one grade up? Do you plan on making a habit of it?

You might want to consider this as an oppourtunity to approach the other person, and offer some legitimate help like tutoring.

i wouldnt give my "crush" or any good friends of mine a "F" or zero, but i wouldnt give em 100% either. i'll probably change some and get em at least a C then tell them to study more. but if it continues, then i'll just mark what is right and what is wrong yes i know i am a bad TA, thats why i never became one

Well, if they got an F, then there is a reason they got an F. If I just change it to a C or higher, more than likely the reason will never be known. My friend might need some major help with that particular subject. Maybe my friend is struggling and this F is the first step to getting help. Maybe my friend is a lazy bum who didn't study at all, so why would he/she deserve a better grade? Either way, the bottom line is, I won't always be the TA in every class that my friend attends. I won't be able to help on every test. It's better for her/him to gain that C then, so that in the future he/she can do it again.

be honest!. even if it was a close friend, i'd have a limit on how much i could help them out, and when it comes to a crush i porb dont know thta well, then the chances are even slimmer.

I was a TA for many many years. I marked all paper objectively with the same standard for everyone. It is not fair to other student that you give someone you have a crush on a better mark... However, it is ok to tutor her so she can do better for future assignment and exam.

You're not helping anyone by giving the person a better grade than the one they really got. They won't learn anything and will keep getting it wrong if they were to face it again in the future. It would be a greater disappointment to the person once they realized that they aren't that good and that they got what they got not because they are smart.

Lunar, there are things you can't always do for a friend. And in my opinion this is one of them. You can tutor them and tell them to study, but to change their score is cheating. You're destroying all the trust that the teacher has in you. If a teacher gives you a task like grading paper without him or her going over it that means that teacher trusts and believes you'd do the right thing. I may have grown up in America but I always respect my teacher if they are willing to put their reputation on the line for me. Is it worth it to break someone's trust and in a way hurt your friend's future? You changing that grade will only make your friend happy for that minute, if he gets happy with a 'C' that is, then he'll forget about it and not learn from his mistakes.

yea ur absolutely right, just that im not that kind of person btw if i do change the grade, i will tell him what he did wrong and to study more and i wont change it more than once. but first time, i'll always change it.
