Got to agree. The stats are too confusing for me.

I firmly believe the storyline, the plot links, and the character development of each RPG player is more important than stats/figures. Stats are important but it shouldn't be so messy.

What we should do now is to think of our own "balanced" character, PM other players to ask whether our characters could be linked with them and wait for Icyfox's FINALE in RPG #2.

So that when Tommy returns, almost everyone is ready for our new RPG challenge?!

Yeah. I mean we've already had god-like characters in RPG #1, #2 and #3. I just thought I'd like to do it differently for a change, and I think Tommy/Bogeyman thinks the same too.

STATS/POINTS?

There should be a strict points system set in place. Ii used to play AD&D and our stats were determined by the random roll of the dice. However, that probably won't work for this.

I think that if our stats were assigned to us by the GM/SPCNET Moderator (that way we don't get preferential treatment), it would make things easier. However, we could get a boost in a different area if we feel that our character excels at qing gong rather than neigong (whatever is reasonable). I don't know. It's just a suggestion. anything so it won't turn out like RPG 3.

Overall, I strongly believe that if a points system were set up, it would be less of a hassle than it is right now. Frankly, we could start and write descriptions of our characters and then have the GM determine our stats (with our input of course).

Why not we just use verbal descriptions of our chara's stat and let Tommy decide the values when he reads and judges?

Yours is a special case, and due to our differing opinions, I don't think that's a good idea.

which time line is this RPG taking place? Since we cannot use JY's and GL's kung fu(s) in this RPG, what about the usage of Sects such as Wundang, Shaolin etc?

I was actually thinking of the era before DGSD to minimise the references to JY/GL works. But post-XAJH should be OK too.

(Actually I'm thinking that though we should keep such references to a minimum, they shouldn't be forbidden totally.)

Here is one idea for the next one. The story in RPG2 is quite epic, with numerous subplots. The drawback is that many times people lose steam and due to the length many players dropped off.

How about we make the story quite short but intense in the next one. I was thinking of something like this. Let's say there is a mystery in Wulin, where a whole town become suddenly empty. No one knows where the residents are or who did it. So the story revolves only in that town, and perhaps only for a week of story time (of course the playing time would be much longer). The players could be in the town by accident, or they purposely came to investigate the mystery. Of course some actually are the bad guys, etc.

Or perhaps there is a treasure map being spread out in Wulin, many copies are fake of course. The story revolves in the mountain where the treasure was supposed to be. Some came to investigate who spread the map and for what purpose, while some want to find the treasure.

Well, you guys get the idea. It won't be an epic story (RPG 2 takes more than a year to get to this point, and I don't think I can handle going through the same length of adventure any time soon.) This time the story will be short, with many mysteries and intense battles. Sort of like Gu Long's story (Eagles flying in September, or Bordertown Wanderer).

Someone, the bad guys who created the mystery I presume, has to control the story flow though.

We could start with that.
