It refers to a defensive measure developed to defeat or neutralize someone else's [or group's] martial arts. The Quanzhen's 'Big Dipper Formation' was developed as a 'Black Star'.

On the side note: Thank you dgfds for the HSDS Unabridged. This last part of the trilogy is in a worse mess than the first two. No, I am not talking about the translations; they are awesome! What I mean is it has so many gaps in-between the chapters; plus they were spread out everywhere. Do you know if anybody has worked on Chapter 23? If not, can I work on it? I know Huang Yushi is working on Chapters 13 to 20; Huang Rong on Chapter 25. Please let me know.

hmm.. not necessarily. yideng's yiyang finger was referred to as the toad leap's black star, but the yiyang finger was not devised to counter the toad leap specifically.

Oh, IcyFox ... don't get offended. I was just making an offer to reduce the gaps. I haven't made any commitment to do anything with HSDS. I thought you are the one who will be in charge of this. If I wanted to work on chapters 26 thru 40, I would certainly contact you, as well as Huang Yushi and Huang Rong.

As for your suggestion, I've already posted my request that unless it is blatant error, be it grammatical, spelling or story-wise, please do it in the 'Correction' thread.

This is a suggestion. It's out of place to place it in the Corrections Thread.

What's happening here? It looks like very soon the only difference between this thread and the Unabridged thread is the "Thank you" posts of the readers.

Seems like my understanding of Jianghu here is seriously outdated.
