    Default Dog Beating Stick Technique

Why is doggy style regarded as the Beggar\'s Union martial arts but not the 18 Dragon Palms? I thought 18 Dragon Palms were better than the Doggy Style fighting techinque.

I seem to remember reading that the Dog Beating Stick was on par with the 18 Dragon Palms, if not better.

HL18Z is one of the best palm skills in wuxia. but dog beating skill is a level higher. the greats were considered to have reached such a high level(near formless and near infinate variations) in both weapons and empty hands that there was no difference when the fight against each other if they used weapons or not. so HQG could use HL18Z against OYF's staff, and OYF can use toad staance against HYS's jade flute. and so on. but dog beating skill could defeat OYF's staff skill in a few moves. through HQG did not want him to see the skill incase he comes up with some counters beofre the huashan tournament. dog beating skill has also been stated as begger sects top skill, through HL18Z is not far from it, maybe a half level better.
    consider:
    HL18Z, level 8.
dog beating skill, level 8 1/2.
    9yin zhenjing, level 9.

Both the XL18P and Dog beating stick are Beggar union martial arts. However, the Dog beating stick can only be transmitted from one Beggar Union leader to the next as a symbol of leadership. But XL18P can be taught to outsiders that aren't in the union. For example, H7G taught the palm to GJ, GJ taught it to his students, XF taught it to XuZhu, etc.

    Higher than level 10?!

Just out of curiosity, what is your scale you are using to measure martial arts skills?

i use 9yinzhenjing and 9yang zhenjing as level 9 because both are said to be equal in opposite ways.
i figured huang sheng to be level 9, the greats caught up to this level around the end of LOCH. so did WCY before he died.
during the first haushan tournament, Quezhen school skills to be level 8 and a half, the other greats schools to be level 8. toards the end of LOCH, their schools had gone up to level 9 with new skills invented or refined by second round of greats and passed on.
yiyinji may well be level ten, 6MDS is supposed to be equal with yiyinji but are ranked apart from their schools of origin. shaolin and wudang stand at level 9.
