Meh, Andy Lau is so damn overhyped--I've never liked the supposed public image that he tries to put out. There's something about his attitude that reeks of arrogance to me, but I'll be honest and say that he is a 'nice guy' based on his actions meh.

Tony Leung is MUCH better at acting than Andy. I think Andy is a better overall "star", but Tony is a solid actor. Andy is more of a jack-of-all-trades who can sing, act, dance, etc. all relatively well, but none exceptionally well.

i doubt tony leung or andy lau would let a petty feud stop them from taking good roles. both men are smart enough to think about the big picture, and i honestly think they have no problem working together. have we all forgotten infernal affairs?

If you compare the two, Andy is nicer than Tony as a person. That is why he is still has good friendship with other 3 tigers where as Tony hardly show up on their annual meeting...

Here is another article from Asianfanatics.

Thanks to AWCSG00155 for the translation from http://forum.awc618.com
All these years, Andy has been
working hard to develop movie career. He had expressed his
wish before that he he would like to gather the 5 Tigers of
yesteryear to shoot a movie.
Actually he has been working on it secretly all this while.
The new movie, which he himself invested, is titled Brothers,
shooting will begin end of next month.

He personally invited Felix Wong, Miu Kiu Wei & Kent Tong,
but the meeting of the 5 Tigers Tony Leung is missing,
Eason who does not appear to have any relation is
one of the main leads.
The 5 Tigers was formed in the 80s, at the time when Andy,
Tony, Felix, Miu & Kent were the upcoming stars.
When TVB asked for a 5 year contract from the 5 of them, the 5
decided to advance & retreat together, they left TVB & signed up
with Impact Entertainment.
Never had they thought at the last minute Tony betrayed them &
stayed back at TVB. He thus became the only one & got the full
support of TVB, under no other opponents. He won in opportunities
but lost in friendship, the relationship of the 5 Tigers was thus
broken.
When young they went through thick & thin together, the 4 Tigers
were angry with Tony, but found it hard to break off completely,
in 91 they held hands again to shoot a movie titled The Breaking Up of The 5 Tigers, just like the real life.
After that they seldom work together, in addition, Tony is more
introvert, the 4 Tigers still find grudge with him.
Andy & Tony always are arch rivals in movies. In 02 when Peter
Lam shot Infernal Affairs they then met again.
In 04 when Andy held a 100th concert at the Coliseum,
the other 3 Tigers were present, to celebrate with him & gave him
presents. Only Tony was absent.
This time when Andy arranged for the 5 Tigers to meet again
after 16 years, it is then exposed the relationship of love & hate
with Tony in these 20 years. Tony was excluded in the movie.
The executive director Kent Cheng at the phone interview
said, "I’m the executive director, the details will be announced
by the company later. It is not convenient for me to talk.”
When asked why was Tony singled out?
Replied, “Why no Tony? You have to ask Andy, can’t we film movie
without Tony?”
On the other hand, through his asst, Andy disclosed that he
is still shooting in mainland, for details they have to ask the director.
Director 趙 崇 基 who is presently scouting for shooting
locations in Thailand said through phone, “We have never
thought of getting Tony to act, the cast includes Eason
Chan, Felix, Kent Tong, Miu, Andy”
Why is Tony not beign considered ?
Said, “Many reasons. Money is one, getting him we have
to pay a lot.”
He disclosed shooting will begin middle of next month,
starting from Bangkok & back to HK. The budget is
abt HK 20 million.
Anyway, I think this article is over exaggerate about the situation. I think the main reason for Tony not in the movie is because he is too busy and also too pricey.....

Yeah, better if Tony is included. However, it is understandable that Tony is excluded for many many reasons. Tony is very busy with other movie, he is too pricy and the budget for the movie is low, Tony betrayed them in the past, ect......

Well, the other four tigers are good friends of each other while Tony is not. You should read the articles that I posted for this topic you will have sense why he is excluded.

The golden five tigers are best artists ever. It would be nice if Tony is included but it is understandable that he is not. There is something wrong with Tony that the other four still remain good friends while he is not. I heard Tony and Andy used to be best friend but not anymore.....

Default Felix Wong, Michael Miu, Andy Lau, & Kent Tong Film New Movie

The 4 Tigers, Felix Wong Yat Wah, Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Andy Lau Tak Wah, and Kent Tong Chun Yip will be starring in a new movie, entitled, "Brothers" 《兄弟》!
As the producer, Andy was faced with questions by the reporters whether the absence of Tony Leung Chi Wai indicated that the 5 Tigers did not get along with each other? Felix responded that Tony's schedule was busy and thus he could not participate. Andy was afraid of rampant rumors, thus he did not want to discuss the topic.
Beside the 4 Tigers, Gordon Lam Ka Tung, Eason Chan and Wong Yik will also star in the new movie. Along with the Hong Kong media, Andy also invited nearly 50 reporters from mainland to the press conference. The scene was crowded and oozing with excitement!

The actors went onstage to answer the press' questions. Andy revealed that Michael's wife, Jamie Chik Mei Chun was present during the filming of Michael's scenes opposite co-star Wong Yik. Andy jibed that the next movie should be entitled, "Husbands and Wives," making Michael quite embarrassed!
Michael retorted by describing Eason as "The God of Music" (歌神) while Andy was only a singer 歌手. Andy pretended to be upset, "I became a singer from an idol, that's not bad!" But Michael said, "Andy, you are a special singer who will always be the most popular!"
The press asked Andy whether he was disappointed Tony Leung could not film for the movie. Andy said, "Since the cast is already finalized, let's not discuss this issue. Of course, I wish that the 5 Tigers can work together again. However the 4 of us are already very happy filming together!"
Andy originally planned on only playing a cameo role in "Brothers," but he will now play the main lead instead. His onscreen time will be even more than recent film, "Protege."
Will Andy invite Tony to the film's premiere? Andy said, "In the past, I did not make the decision as to who to invite for the premiere. I will let my company's staff decide."
Although Andy underplayed the press' questions regarding Tony Leung, Felix Wong responded, "Due to schedule conflict, Tony was unable to film for the movie. If Tony could join the cast, that would be wonderful! The 5 Tigers have not worked together for 16 years!"

Felix continued, "It was not a matter of Tony's filming fee. All of us could even waive our fees and give them to Tony! But Andy did not want to discuss the matter because he was afraid the press would distort the truth. Andy is also unhappy that Tony could not film."

Jayne: Yay, the 4 Tigers are making a movie together! Don't know too much about the movie, but the title implies a cop & mafia film.
Since Andy will dominate in screen time, the other Tigers will only play supporting roles. But it's still nice to see them all together again. Felix is always the straight forward one to answer the press with honest answers. Please vote in the poll attached to this article!

Translation by AWCSG00155 from Andy Lau's Official Forum
Andy had always dreamt to shoot a movie with his good
brothers, finally it materializes when Felix, Ken, Miu Kiu Wai,
Lam Ka Tung, Eason Chan et al came to support, it was
a dream comes true for Andy!
As all the leads are very busy, each with his own activity,
it is difficult to find a time to gather them all, the movie co is
having a headache to get them together for the publicity activities.
Recently, the leads were told to go to the studio to shoot
promo posters. Finally it was 'I wait for you, you wait for me'
situation, it took a whole day to get the job done.
While waiting they took the opportunity to 'boast'
in catching up with one another, & turned to thank
the co for giving them the opportunity instead.
In the promotional trailers, fresh blood on Andy is used
as the selling point, lying by the road side he was bleeding
profusely, it is quite a horrible sight, the title reminds people
not to trust fully those around them.

Translated by AWCSG00155 from Andy Lau's Official Forum
Brothers, starring Andy Lau, Eason Chan, Miu Kiu Wao,
Felix Wong, Ken Tong, Wang Zhi Wen, Lam Ka Tung & others
will hit the big screen on Oct 18.
As one of the producers, Andy said he has always wanted to
get a group of good brothers to act in a movie, this time he
has his wish fulfilled.

He said, "I feel this is a special affinity, can be said to be
a heaven’s will. As this combination is also a long expected wish of all,
everyone studied their roles seriously, during shooting they
discussed the script & roles often.
I feel the special thing about this collaboration
is the way we get ourselves into the roles, at first each had
his own views on the role, this individual angle of views
influenced the moods of others. The director gave us ample
space to develop the character, the shooting site was just like
the title of the movie, we are all brothers, everyone was
'I help you, you help me.', everyone sincerely, humbly asking
another on his acting, from the initial different view points, we
merged & came the same direction, the working process is
one that is worth reminiscing."

In addition, DOVE's 'Confidence of a true self' selection for
'‘the artiste or politician with the most self confidence',
Andy has emerged to be the one with the most self confidence,
as picked by the youngsters.
