Woa. So Jiang Yulang became a girl!

If a girl can't get over her man, women (of the feminist type) say that she's emotionally weak and dependent. If a man can't get over his girl, for example:

    - Zhang Sanfeng: 100 years!
    - Xiao Feng
    - Yang Guo
    - Linghu Chung (for quite a while)

then they celebrate it as if it's the most romantic thing ever (while the guys go "fark, I'm stuck here now!").

The result is that it tries to influence women to change men faster than panties and men to stick with their women through obesity and plastic surgeries... I mean thick and thin.
Well, I'm not sure about LQS and TSTL but Jiang Feng did dominate Yaoyue's life. Her whole life was about revenge on Jiang Feng and that's all she cared about. I feel sorry for Lianxing, who had let it go a long time back. She could have moved on but was stuck in that vengence hole because of Yaoyue.

Zi Wei's character was made to have obvious flaws in HZGG II to prove that she's not perfect. Except Qiong Yao has limited abilities with creating realistic flaws, so the whole thing seems forced and uncomfortable, making people get annoyed with Zi Wei when it could've been a much better written character. But meh, it's Qiong Yao, I'm not surprised.
I agree. XYZ was a troublemaker. Vicky was really adorable but still, doesn't make XYZ any less annoying.

I'm never really fond of Ziwei because she's like the typical Qiong Yao female.

same here. Zi Wei is weak, annoying and does nothing but cry and mope. Qing er is cute and more intelligent than 3 Zi Wei + 20 Xiao Yan Zi

But on topic, i do dislike the 1 dimensional nature of female wuxia characters. They come in
    1) sweet gentle type who always needs saving
    2) kickass woman who is unfortunately bitter and cruel
    3) intelligent woman who is also manipulative and slu-tty
    4) women that start off as interesting characters and then become boring due to their love for some man

First Jiang Yu Yan, now Xiao Long Nv.

To kidd regarding Zi Wei - I didn't find her intentions genuine and if they were she should've showed it. From what I observed, in HZ2 she'd often tell Er Kang to leave her for Qing Er or whatever while BAWLING away. Would Er Kang ever leave her when she's crying like that? No, and the annoying way she repeatedly does this makes me almost feel like she knows it. Talk about guilt tripping!
    Well said, Sparky.

I'm clearly not 0-0-0, but to answer your question, looks like Xiao Li Fei Dao, aka Little Dagger Li.

Yes, it's the taiwan version of XLFD, and probably one of the only taiwanese series i managed to get through. (helps that richie ren wasn't in this one)

Despite the fact that much of the story got butchered, mainly in the 2nd half, i think it had a pretty good cast, eg. Vincent Jiao, Alyssa Chia. I quite liked the actresses in the role of Lin Shi Yin and Lin Xian Er as well. Actually, i found out recently that FBB was also in it... i never noticed!

again, i'd say those female characters fit into the stereotypical categories i listed previously.

like ngoc yen/yu yan in The Amazing Twins (dicky & nic) gosh.....

you need to re-read, i said seem innocent, i didn't say she was "damsel in distress" i said she's the type of character i dislike. yea i said she's martial-artless [at first] but i didn't say she's not 'damsel in distress' because she obviously, did a lot of evil things to get it her way....

As for damsels in distress in wuxia, generally I don't like them that much. I tend to like the spunkier characters better, like:
    -Huang Rong
    -Ren Ying Ying
    -Zhao Min
    -Lu Wu Shuang
I also like lots of other strong female characters, like:
    -Mei Chao Feng
-Li Mo Chou (yes, I am crazy)
    -Zhou Zhi Ruo
I also tend to like some of the evil characters....
But I REALLY DISLIKE some of the more quiet characters...like XIAO LONG NV!!!!! Would she be considered a damsel in distress? Oh god, now I'm confusing my self....
    ~red
haha i like the "spunkier" ones too. like huang rong/hoang dung;; but i guess it depends on how the actress potrayed them, because i've heard many actresses did it their own ways.. like barbara yung's one was supposedly sassier? lol

yea sometimes when i watch i like the evil ones too. until, they get to the point where they're dispicable. chiu chi nuoc | zhou zhi ruo ;; when she framed trieu minh | zhao minh for murder & stole the heaven sword & dragon sabre.

out of all the evil ones you chose, i like miao chao feng | mai siu phong i dont kno why, when i watched LOCH82 i thought she was such a good bad guy!! lol.

I recommend you reread my post because if you want to argue via analogy, your analogy doesn't match what I saw in Zi Wei.

Yet Er Kang picked Zi Wei! Is that supposed to show that crying gets you everywhere in life? As for XYZ, I thought Qiong Yao just put too much effort into making XYZ funny and thus caused the character to become really stupid. Certain XYZ moments show that she has the ability to be intelligent (like when Zi Wei criticises her for lying but then XYZ points out ZW's crossdressing)

    4) women that start off as interesting characters and then become boring due to their love for some man
That's not one-dimensional! I think female characters don't become any less "strong" because they fall in love with a man. I particularly admire the girls that show determination in the way they love and are go-getters. On the other hand, the sit-around-and-wait-for-Prince-Charming gets on my nerves.
