What story was this tv series based on?

My mom saw this series a long time ago (when I was like 5 years old) & she can't remember the name of it. So this had to be released sometime in the 80's or early 90's or so.

I barely remember what it was about. At the beginning it's about 2 lil kids growing up, I think they were orphans or something, if not the boy was & the girl was just separated from her family. Their caretaker died before telling the girl that she was in fact a girl, and so for like half of the series, she dressed like a boy & everyone thought she was a boy....they go thru all these crazy funny adventures in the world for like 10 yrs, until something happened I don't remember what, I think the girl runs into one of her relatives or someone who knew who she was really a girl not a boy, because afterward she got forced to wear girl clothes...which she hated. And then they go on a whole bunch of more silly adventures & cause chaos wherever they go. And then I think the town guards wanted them wherever they went. Sorry I can't remember much else about it....

So does this story sound familiar to anyone? Coz I'm trying to figure out what the name of it is...thanks!

Yup the girl was super strong, stronger than the guy...I think in one part of the series, she picked up a huge tree with the guy standing on top of it? hahaha
