coming from a non fan, nothing that i would feel irked about. I wouldn't be suprised that u play the game for 10 min and decide to stop since i would be too old school for u

As of now, Final Fantasy Versus XIII looks more interesting to me though it seems that it may be released later than Final Fantasy XIII. Glad I got a PS3 for Christmas.

    Nice trailers!

Yeah I also find Versus more appealing. It has that pseudo gothic/fantasy/sci fi thing going on.

Its now a close fight between Wii and PS3 for me. I've always been a Playstation supporter, but if SE starts developing for the Wii, I'd switch over in a heartbeat.

    Default Final Fantasy 13

The game came out just a few days ago, who's playing it? Thoughts?

EDIT: Didn't notice the old thread, it was in the second page sorry for this.

I bought the game ahead of schedule... and couldn't fight the temptation to stay away. It's fun and addictive... but thankfully I still have enough control to pry myself away from it so I could focus on my final school assignment.

Its good to see you find it fun, I'm kinda disappointed because it didn't meet my expectations. I'd say its a 7/10 max, comparing to how I was wow'ed by FF6 and FF7 the first time I played them, FF13 is just an average game to me. Still, its not a bad game and definitely worth playing for all FF fans.

Well, so far the only disappointments to me were no levelling up. I kinda liked the conventional system... And that I can't choose my own party leader and members.

On the bright side, since certain team members tend to get neglected in terms of development (everyone has got their favourites), the levelling system in FF13 evens things out properly.

I bought this game too. I'm kind of disappointed with it as well. Maybe I've outgrown video games or maybe it's cause I had so much fun and addiction to FFX that nothing else (in terms of RPGs) even comes close.

Oh well, I'll still play it till I finish and might replay it some day, but I'm not having that much fun with it or else I'll be playing it right now instead of going online.

I've gotten to chapter 10 and things are starting to pick up, the battle system shines with 3 people in the party. Too bad you have to play 2 people most of the time early in the game which makes things uninterestingly slow.

Chapter 11 is where you will go "oooh!", "ahhhh!", "wow". Keep going!

Are there random battles every 5 seconds? I hate those.

    No.

You can see the enemies walking around so you can choose to fight or not.

This is only half true. While you can see the enemies walking around, most of them cannot be skipped so its kinda like having a random battle but you know when it happens.

I don't know about that. I did managed to escape from enemies countless times. Some are easy to run away from, some are difficult, and some are impossible. For those impossible types, I think we are just meant to cut through them. Why else put them in a position where we can't get away from them?

Sometimes you need to watch their movement methods to know how to get away from them, or take advantage of the little spaces they may leave exposed. I learnt how to get away from a certain type of fast-moving monster in chapter 11 after some observation.

Well, youre right when you get to chapter 11 onwards its easier to run away from monsters but earlier in the game its much harder because the pathways are much too tight.

You are there now? Enjoying it so far?

When I got there for the first time, the world was so huge and had few directives I got lost and didn't know what to do.

Its a breath of fresh air to be honest. I've wanted to take some time off the story and do some sidequests and finally got my chance. The enemies are way tougher than before though, looks like I have to grind a bit.

At the beginning, you can fight the gorgonopsids and munchkins. Then you can proceed to Mahab-bara and get into the secret passage to fight those bombs and hoplites. They pack quite an amount of CP and the bombs drop Bomb Core, which is very good for weapon upgrading. They regenerate super fast too.
