Don't especially admit that to Morrissey, he freaking hates The Cure for some reason.

    Morrissey quotes:
    "Robert Smith is a whingebag."
"The Cure, a new dimension to the word 'crap'."
Did you know that the song "Getting Away With It" by Electronic is about Morrissey?

I love these Brits, they're funny.

I have no idea Latinos like Morrissey. Maybe they like the way he dresses and how he slicks his hair. In his younger days of course.

I never admit liking Robert Smith over Morrissey in public since I know more Morrissey fans than The Cure. I do enjoy their on going feud though.

Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

Heavy metal was a huge part of 1980s rock, and in the early 1980s, one of the most popular metal bands was Van Halen, whose titular lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen became THE guitar hero of the 1980s. Ironically, their most popular tune of the 1980s, "Jump," (1984) featured more synthesizer than electric guitar.

The guitar riff in Dance the Night Away is unforgettable.

Thanks bro. That's some good shtuff.
Honestly, I wasn't much into music during this era cuz I was still young and foolish. Funny thing is...after I have gotten much older that I started to appreciate the music that I grew up with.

Not a problem, some of the stuff here really defined our genre, you listen to some of the stuff today, doesn't have as much substance as yester year. You figure most people who are not from the 80's will hear some of this stuff and go hey I've heard that before I didn't know who it was.

"Roam" - the B-52s, who were hitmakers at the beginning of the 1980s ("Rock Lobster" in 1980) and again at the end of the decade with "Roam" (in 1989).

They probably could have had more hits in the middle of the decade, but their career was short-circuited in the mid-1980s by the death of founding member Ricky Wilson in 1985 from AIDS.

Gotta give it up for female rockers from Heart.

All right. It's been a very long time, but I haven't abandoned the concept behind this thread.

From 1982, we have Sheena Easton's hit "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)," which featured one of the funniest music videos of the early 1980s.

Interestingly enough, does HK shows not allow live music to be performed on-stage? The video above is clearing using the pre-recorded studio version of the song and the Beyond members are just pretended to play the instruments. (Their true live performances don't sound like that) I only see Beyond actually play live during their own concerts. When they appear on shows, it's usually playing a pre-recorded track while the lead vocalist sings for real.

During the 1980s, music videos often told a story through music. One of the more interesting and memorable storytelling videos was for Pat Benatar's 1984 hit "Love Is A Battlefield."

I haven't watched MusiquePlus or MuchMusic for years, do young people still watch those channels like MTV anymore? Do they even show music videos anymore? In the '80s, I used to spend hours and hours just watching music videos.
