They're not the only ones. Many actresses were rumoured to have met up with Ang Lee for the role, including.. GYY and LYF!! When Ang Lee first mentioned he was looking for a mainland actress to play the female lead, there were rumours that GYY caught Ang Lee's eye but her manager denied that she had met up with the director. I can never imagine GYY in such a role for she's a well-known conservative. As for LYF, her manager claimed she was considered for the role for Ang Lee admired her youth (the news even got published in the S'pore papers) but her mother claimed otherwise; that her daughter never met Ang Lee as well.
