Default "Mo Wai" - a banner often seen on the doors of wulin people's homes.

In many wuxia movies and television series, wuxia characters often have banners on their doors with the Chinese characters "mo" ("wu" in Mandarin, for "combat") and "wai" (same as the word for the military rank "lieutenant" in Chinese). What is the meaning of this term, and why do wuxia characters often have this banner on the doors of their homes?

Probably means defended by martial artists or something to that effect. Think of it as Baby On Board except with Kung Fu.

    Never seen the banner actually.
