I'm no Irish nor English, but I like the lyrics and I agree about Oliver Cromwell.

    Irish Blood, English Heart

    Song by Morrissey
    Lyrics by Morrissey

Irish blood, English heart, this I'm made of
There is no-one on earth I'm afraid of
And no regime can buy or sell me

I've been dreaming of a time when
To be English is not to be baneful
To be standing by the flag not feeling
    Shameful, racist or partial

Irish blood, English heart, this I'm made of
There is no-one on earth I'm afraid of
And I will die with both my hands untied

I've been dreaming of a time when
The English are sick to death of Labour
And Tories, and spit upon the name of Oliver Cromwell
And denounce this royal line that still salute him
    And will salute him forever
My obsessions: Joy Division, New Order, Bones, The Office.

Do bears bear? Do bees bee?

The song is written by Eric Carmen/Sergei Rachmaninoff I don't think many will know what song I am referring to if I say All By Myself written by Eric and Sergei I like the song and lyrics as much as Celine's style of delivering the song Thread states the most inspirational lyrics so I just state the song containing those inspirational lyrics and the artiste who sang it

But the thread asks for most inspirational lyrics, not most inspirational performance. I think as part of respect to the original lyrist, this info should be included.

I don't like pop singers gettng more credit for what they deserve either..not saying this is true of Celine Dion, but in general, the public fails to see that there's other parts to a successful song, i.e. the composer who wrote the tune and the lyricist who wrote the lyrics. But this topic has been beaten to death at Spcnet so I'm not going to go into it.

You couldn't just add the lyricists along with the song title and the performer? I pinpointed your post because the way you wrote gave the impression that the lyrics are tossed aside.

I don't know if you even understand yourself, but above you're emphasizing Aguilera's voice by stating that it is pretty like herself and her lyrics. You mentioned the lyrics just to back up the notion that her voice is pretty.

I like Celine alot coz many of her songs(lyrics) are inspirational and her voice is marvellous.
Lyrics in parentheses? And then you mention her marvellous voice.

It's all in the way you write your statement and I didn't feel that you put enough emphasis on the lyrics. Mind you, you can write whatever you want, but it shouldn't stop me from finding it sad that the lyricists are often forgotten and when they're not, people don't even bother mentioning them.

I could if you asked it politely

It's an impression you're getting I din't have the idea of tossing the lyrics aside while typing the post

Again,it's your impression That comment was made to compliment the lyrics if you know that Aguilera's voice is good. Not as a notion.I don't mind rephrasing it to: The Voice Within has nice lyrics, just like Aguilera's(the one who sing it) voice and herself.Happy?

I don't have that much time and intention to stop you from finding it sad from my arguments Go ahead and weep if you must I won't even bother to stop u

Yea...I don't bother mentioning them coz I don't think ppl will even know them at the first place even if I mentioned them I do agree that lyricists are often forgotten and not mentioned Afterall, they are the backstage supporters and the real glamour is not focussed on them

Oh I actually did cry tonight , but it was caused by a movie; it was much sadder than the forgotten lyricists .

The thing about inspirational lyrics is that they aren't necessarily of the sentimental, melodramatic, borderline corny variety. Sometimes, even apparently mindless lyrics can be inspirational in their sheer implication. Consider, for example, the lyrics of the R&B classic "Twist and Shout" (famously recorded by both the Isley Brothers and the Beatles, among others, during the 1960s), written by Phil Medley and Bert Russell:

Well, shake it up, baby, now, (shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout. (twist and shout)
Cmon cmon, cmon, cmon, baby, now, (come on baby)
Come on and work it on out. (work it on out)

Well, work it on out, honey. (work it on out)
You know you look so good. (look so good)
You know you got me goin, now, (got me goin)
Just like I knew you would. (like I knew you would)

Well, shake it up, baby, now, (shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout. (twist and shout)
Cmon, cmon, cmon, cmon, baby, now, (come on baby)
Come on and work it all out. (work it all out)

You know you twist your little girl, (twist, little girl)
You know you twist so fine. (twist so fine)
Come on and twist a little closer, now, (twist a little closer)
And let me know that you're mine. (let me know youre mine)

Well, shake it up, baby, now, (shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout. (twist and shout)
Cmon, cmon, cmon, cmon, baby, now, (come on baby)
Come on and work it on out. (work it on out)

You know you twist your little girl, (twist, little girl)
You know you twist so fine. (twist so fine)
Come on and twist a little closer, now, (twist a little closer)
And let me know that you're mine. (let me know youre mine)

Well, shake it, shake it, shake it, baby, now. (shake it up baby)
Well, shake it, shake it, shake it, baby, now. (shake it up baby)
Well, shake it, shake it, shake it, baby, now. (shake it up baby)
    Ahhhhhhhhhh(low) Ahhhhhhhhhh(higher) Ahhhhhhhhhh(higher) Ahhhhhhhhhhh(high)
    wow(scream)

Just another dance song, right? Well, yes and no. Few songs pick up your mood like this one; it just makes you feel good...that life is fun and exciting. It doesn't tell you this, it shows you. This kind of inspirational lyric is, in my opinion, the best.

"When It All Falls Apart" by the Veronicas

I'm having the day from hell,
It wasn't all going so well (before you came)
And you told me you needed space,
With a kiss on the side my face (not again)
And not to mention (the tears I shed)
But I should have kicked your (*** instead)
    I need intervention
Attention to stop temptation to scream

    Cause baby
Everything is F'ed up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
Cuz I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
    No

Don't know where I parked my car
Don't know who my real friends are (anymore)
I put my faith in you
What a stupid thing to do (when it rains it pours)
And not to mention (I drank too much)
I'm feeling hung over (and out of touch)
    I need intervention
Attention to stop temptation to scream

    Cause baby
Everything is F'ed up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
Cuz I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
    No

    Can it be easier?
Can I just change my life?
Cause it just seems to go bad everytime
    Will I be mending?
    another one ending once again

Everything is F'ed up straight from the heart
Tell me what do you do, when it all falls apart
Gotta pick myself up where do I start
Cuz I can't turn to you when it all falls apart
    No [x2]

    Falls apart
Gotta pick myself up 'cause things are messed up

I'm going go the unconventional route and not pick a "pop song" by a pop singer.

"Make Them Hear You" (from the musical Ragtime)

Go out and tell our story.
Let it echo far and wide.
    Make them hear you,
    Make them hear you.

    How justice was our battle
    And how justice was denied.
    Make them hear you,
    Make them hear you.

And say to those who blame us
For the way we chose to fight
    That sometimes there are battles
That are more than black or white...
And I could not put down my sword
    When justice was my right.
    Make them hear you.
Go out and tell our story
To your daughters and your sons.
    Make them hear you,
    Make them hear you.

And tell them, in our struggle,
We were no the only ones.
    Make them hear you,
    Make them hear you.
Your sword can be a sermon
Or the power of the pen.
Teach every child to raise his voice
    And then, my brothers, then
    Will justice be demanded
    By ten million righteous men.
    Make them hear you.
    When they hear you,
    I'll be near you
    Again.

Here's the band playing the song on Youtube.

Wow! Hey Ken, thanks for sharing these beautiful lyrics! Do you have this song by the way?

The Long Goodbye - Ronan Keating

I know they say if you love somebody
You should set them free (so they say)
But it sure is hard to do
Yeah, it sure is hard to do
And I know they say if they
    don't come back again
Then it's meant to be (so they say)
But those words ain't pulling me through
Cos I'm still in love with you
I spend each day here waiting for a miracle
But it's just you and me
    going through the mill
    (climbin' up a hill)

    [ Chorus ]

    This is the long goodbye
    Somebody tell me why
Two lovers in love can't make it
    Just what kind of love
    keeps breaking a heart?
No matter how hard I try
    You're gonna make me cry
Come on, baby, it's over, let's face it
All that's happening here is a long goodbye

Sometimes I ask my heart did we really
Give our love a chance (just one more chance)
and I know without a doubt
    I turned it inside out
    And if we walked away
would make more sense (only self defense)
But it tears me up inside
Just to think we still could try
How long must we keep riding on a carousel
    Going round and round and
    never getting anywhere?

    [ Chorus ]

    This is the long goodbye
    Somebody tell me why
Two lovers in love can't make it
    Just what kind of love
    keeps breaking a heart?
No matter how hard I try
    You're gonna make me cry
Come on, baby, it's over, Let's face it
All that's happening here is the long goodbye

    [ Chorus x2 ]

    The long goodbye
    The long goodbye
    This is the long goodbye

    Someone please tell me why

Are you ever coming back again
Are you ever coming back again
Are you ever coming back again
Guess I'm never coming back again
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

"We Will Not Be Moved" by Magnetic North
    (D. Kan, T. Vu)

    Verse 1:
I'm sick of silence, sick of being voiceless.
They stigmatize us, the bitterest of poisons.
We gotta fight it, no living in avoidance.
Ain't you sick of suffering the bitter disapointment?
    "Hell Yeah!"
Then join us, trust in our tactics.
Prove we ain't moving like rush hour traffic.
I've had it, the madness, I literally shook
hearing tales never told in a history book.
Caught in misery's hook, seeing, faces screaming.
fathers getting slaughtered, daughters raped and beaten
while they are weeping, mothers sitting stunned
clutchin on to dog tags that belong to her son.
See the fight has begun, but the silence is over...

This is for our culture! This is for our soldiers!
This is for the lives sacrificed on the road ta
peace and prosperity, its theirs to redeem.
Shattered, broken battered, the American Dream...
nonexistent, we living in a system, consistent
with prisons, restrictin our wishes and visions.
So listen, we had enough, we had it rough
it all added up and now we rattled up, so

    CHORUS:

    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
Take us to the brink, call us chinks and gooks.
    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
I refuse to live my life so confused.
    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
Detachment or action you've got to choose.
    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
Generations overdue now we got to prove.

    Verse 2:
    Sometimes I don't know who I am, maybe I'm a freak,
cuz even Asians, man, they be giving me heat.
Cuz you see, I'm Chinese, but Chinese I can't speak.
I only know English, I guess that makes me unique?
Cuz I get no love, from my own people,
    I'm a disgrace to my race, a culture-less individual,
Plus, i ain't the typical, model minority
Being a scholor intellectual aint my priority.
That's me, an ABC with no future.
My grades are shitty, even if I had a tutor.
I ain't good with books, that's just my nature.
But being Asian and all, must mean I'm a failure.
Cuz yo, that is what is expected
If u don't follow the trend, you ain't respected.
See even though I'm good at writing tracks and spittin raps,
I still get down played, for not being black.
As a matter of fact, yo, aint my skin yellow?
So what am I doin rapping? I should be playin the cello.
But really though, this is the kind of sh*** that I f***in get,
Impressed I speak English without an accent.
Cmon, I'm getting sick, to my dick, with these stereotypes.
But I'm goin keep my head up, and just carry the mic.
and spit rhymes, til i'm dead, despite if it's right,
cuz this is one chink, that aint gonna follow the hype.
So follow me and fight and let me hear you say...

    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
Take us to the brink, call us chinks and gooks.
    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
I refuse to live my life so confused.
    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
Detachment or action you've got to choose.
    WE WILL NOT BE MOVED
Generations overdue now we got to prove.

see, I don't know all the answers
    but i have hopes.
Don't act like you dying from cancer, tied in ropes
you want sh*** to change, rearrange your mind first
then we can begin to lift this curse, cuz we..

    Faceless, people living on the
basis, that we evil in this racist
    place where we taste this
    discrimination.
    Damn, do I hate this,
    Man just erase this,
    constant complacence.
    We constantly facing
    a storm that's been raging
    inside these rib cages.
    And why?
    Cuz we asian
    we die for this nation
    and cry for salvation

    for lifetimes and ages..

I've got just about every record the Beatles ever put out.

    Brilliant

I still have a brief idea of this tune goes, just didn't know the exact lyrics.

Ahem! Can you send me this song, in MP3 format?

I'd love to oblige, but that's one format that I don't own the song in. I'm an older guy (35), and being old school, I still own all my music in physical form. I don't know the first thing about uploading the tracks onto a computer.

It's ok, I respect that, Señor. No obligations. I'm not too far away from that age but I do play around with techology stuff as my job would require. Even though I may "sound" like way below my age :P. Ahem! Let's just say, its a requirement for what I have to do .

Oh, and I'm serious about having those crazy songs such as "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" (its an inspiration for me.)

Mmm... I don't know this song, but it was played in HHIII, when Sarah was sad when she realized she had cancer again and as she walked along the road there was some guy singing "Carry on, carry on, carry on".. Mm, somehow, that song kinda affects me a little. Been looking for the lyrics but no luck.

    "Someone's Watching Over Me"

    By Hilary Duff

    Found myself today
Oh I found myself and ran away
    Something pulled me back
The voice of reason I forgot I had
All I know is you're not here to say
What you always used to say
But it's written in the sky tonight

    So I won't give up
    No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
    And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
    Someone's watching over me

    Seen that ray of light
And it's shining on my destiny
    Shining all the time
    And I wont be afraid
To follow everywhere it's taking me
All I know is yesterday is gone
    And right now I belong
To this moment to my dreams

    So I won't give up
    No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
    And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
    Someone's watching over me

It doesn't matter what people say
And it doesn't matter how long it takes
Believe in yourself and you'll fly high
And it only matters how true you are
Be true to yourself and follow your heart

    So I won't give up
    No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
    And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
    That I won't give up
    No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
    And I will be strong
Even when it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
    That someone's watching over
    Someone's watching over
    Someone's watching over me

    Someone's watching over me

Many of Beyond song lyrics are inspirational. The younger generation doesn't know them though.

Glory Days (dedicated to Nelson Mandela) - probably from before some of you were born, in the early 90's. best song and best lyrics of 1991. Or was it 90? Can't remember now.

    --------

Bells toll to signal his return home
His life carries a bit of sadness
The purpose that his black skin gives him
Is to dedicate his life to the racial war

Time has turned possessions into losses
    Weary eyes display hope

Today there's only an empty body left
To welcome in the glory days
Embracing freedom amidst wind and rain
    A lifetime of relentless strife
Self believing that he can change the future
Who else can do as much?

Can we not separate along lines of skin color?
So that in this land, there is no inequality
A myriad of hues emits beauty
Because it does not segregate its colors

Amani (Written after trip to Africa)
    --------

He presides over everything in the world
    His songs sing of love
    His doctrines pervade this planet
Why has He not returned since his departure?
    Can He feel
The smoke of war blanketing the skies and the future?

    Hapless and icy cold eyes
Watch the skies with indignant sadness
Condemn wars of ultimately harming the children
    Cry out to the world:

    Amani nakupenda nakupenda we we
    Amani nakupenda nakupenda we we

Heavens, in the heavens a flying bird is seen
Skittishly spreading its wings to fly
Threading through the horizon only to seek freedom
Hearts, millions of compassionate hearts broken
    Today everything is chaotic
As though reason has disappear from Earth

    Bloodsheds for power and possessions
    Conflicts of ignorance and bias
If wars persist to the end here how can there ever be peace?
    Cry out to the world:

    Amani nakupenda nakupenda we we
    Amani nakupenda nakupenda we

    ----

    Back to work...
