    Default Metamorphosis 《破茧而出》

New police thriller drama from Mediacorp, starring Terence Cao, Chen Han Wei, Rui En, Yvonne Lim and Thomas Ong.

The theme song is nice, but somehow it reminds me of Jay Chou song for Jet Li's movie Fearless (霍元甲). Probably because of the tune in the beginning of the song.

This is one of the first Mediacorp shows that has caught my attention in errr... a few years.

Looks promising; I'll give it a try and hopefully it's good!

only 20 episodes. something tells me the plotline would be underdeveloped and the ending would be rushed. again.

I'm glad that there's only twenty episodes, because Mediacorp's scripts tend to get more or less draggy after ten episodes.

Erm.. anyone noticed tht mediacorp shows are improving?
And since they are improving on the scripts, acting and editing of these shows, why even bother producing Kinship 2? Duh!

I almost forgot what that is, actually. I had to stop and think for about ten seconds before I recall anything about it.

    You are forgiven.

I only enjoy the parts that deal with Cynthia Koh's family, actually.

Btw, I like 'Metamorphosis's theme song too. Is it sang by Jeff Wang? Sounds like his voice.

No, it is sang by Darren Tan, the Project Superstar 2 winner. The title of the song is 《斗神》.

I don't know about other shows but I think this one's showing a lot of potential (unless they go and kill the plot halfway). I've watched the first episode, think it's not bad.

What attracts me is the drama involved; more daring, a little reminiscent of HK police dramas (secret societies etc etc) but of course not quite there yet... And judging from the trailers, its not just mindless action but there's a little bit of psychological stuff involved with Yvonne Lim's character.

Oh and no more over acting, no more wooden acting, not in the main cast anyway.

Here are some of my thoughts after watching the first two episodes.

Rui En is good as the cool and collected Madam. She is very natural, eg her expression when she aimed the gun on the overhead bridge at the escaping Blade in the 1st episode, the anger she had with Ouyang Li when the latter threatened Ah Gui after Rattlesnake got away in the 2nd episode etc. Together with her acting in Bao Jia Wei Guo, she beats almost all of the other more famous young female artistes easily.

Chen Hanwei is great in the role as the impulsive CID. I notice his face turns red very often, probably due to exertion or excitement. The face turning red suits the impulsiveness of his character.

Terence Cao. Nothing special from him yet, probably due to the character. His character is too low-key among the cast. The chemistry between him and Chen Hanwei is not bad though.

Nothing extraordinary from Yvonne Lim yet too, but then her character is not the focus yet. Not bad chemistry with Chen Hanwei too.

Nothing from Thomas Ong yet too, since he only made his appearance in the 2nd episode, and only for a couple of minutes.

Brandon Wong. His character has surprisingly more depth than I thought for a supporting character that will only be in just one of the cases. Not just a triad chief, he is also a loving father. Brandon Wong portrays his character well.

Ong Ai Leng is convincing in her role as the triad leader's wife. Mediacorp seldom have female artistes that look mature, dangerous and yet pretty enough for such roles.

among all the previous police show. this is the BEST police show i can say. mediacorp drama is indeed improving. from "mars vs venus" to "honour and passion" to "like father like daughter" to now.

this 4 shows are not bad though.

at least it's not very draggy and the plot are quite well.

What happened during the last episode of the gang case? I didn't manage to catch that episode.

    A lot of things happened.

Mediacorp's website has already done a good job summarising it.
    http://ch8c.mediacorptv.com/shows/dr...3/1/3671/.html

There is an error in the summary though.
The summary stated that Blood Rose told the police Ghost is the most suspected, but in the series, Blood Rose realised Ghost is the most suspected, but kept mum because she wanted to deal with him personally. The police questioned Rattlesnake again, and Rattlesnake told them if Blood Rose is not the killer, then Ghost could be the killer.

I see. But what happened to Rattlesnake? Did he know that Blood Rose and Ghost died? What was his reaction?

I know I have many questions...
