Still too early to say, but up to this point, who do you think would be nominated for awards and would get Best Actor, Best Actress....etc.?

    2. Raymond [TDOL/HOG
    3. Bowie [JS
    4. Michael [DB/TDOL
    5. Bobby [DB

**I really think it's time for Moses to win...a versatile actor....experience for all these years....and so far, great performance in HOG

    Best Actress ...
    1. Sheren [FL
    2. Lee Sze Kei [HOG/JS
    3. Charmaine Sheh [TDOL
    4. Gigi Lai [JS...

    not sure yet..maybe Benz

    Best Supporting Actress...
    Tavia [for now]

    Most Improved Actor
    Chris

    Most Improved Actress
    Bernice [i think deserves]
..but don't know how TVB might surprise us with maybe Fala or Selena or any other newbie

    Favorite Character
i think Lee Sze Kei will win for HOG
    ...don't know about actor yet....

    Extraordinary Acting Skill
    Ha Yu [Actor]

Yes this is quite early..but to date..I just feel that Susanna Kwan's HOG acting was "wow"...even though it was a "villain" character...

I thought jessica did an excellent job in DB as well as Bosco...

I would have given linda the most improved this year instead of last year...

I'm waiting to see raymodn in tai gi as well as the new 60 chapter series...for once, I didn't think much of his character in HOG besides being linda's boyfriend and sadly dieing..he was just that -- linda's boyfriend..no real other character so i wouldn't vote for him for hog.....although he is the like my top actor...

    bobby so deserves an award!

    Default TVB's 40th Anniversary awards

I think they should bring back the best 10 characters category, best 10 series category and best female/male co-operation award

i know its early yet but i think: HOG / FAS/ Family link/ The brink of law will get a place in the top 10 series category. With regards to best actress / actor..its hard (like every year)

Best veteran actresses:- LSK, Susanna Kwan
Best veteran actor : Har Yu

anyone know what's tipped now as a contender???

i certainly agree with you that Ha Yu and Lee Si Kei should get Best veteran award..

Ha Yu really has a big chance after HOG and then FAS...
Lee Si Kei's character Dai Kai was really memorable..

so far there hasn't been any news on who's going to get the awards but i believe moses has a big chance...about Best Female..still not sure [there isn't really great breakthrough for any actress this year]

Best supporting...hm..i think Tavia should get it...she really hasn't been casted often as first lead but she preforms exceptionally well at her second lead roles...TVB should give her more chance....

    Best supporting male....hm....Wayne!

Best roles...Dai Kai? Duk Duk Dei? idk

Most Improved...so many contenders for female: Bernice, Selena, Natalie, Fala [all promoted by TVB ]

Most Improved guy: i believe Chris Lai....with the exception of moses and raymond, the guys that came afterwards were like all from TITS...first ron, then bosco then kenneth then..i would expect Chris....

i would really like that TVB bring back Top Ten Roles and Best Couple...
i think the kids Jacky and Bui Bui from FAS should get some award..they were great =D

    also Bobby....with Yoyo
Best Series: Family Man, Triumph in the Skies, The Last Breakthrough, Heart of Greed
Actors: Moses Chan, Raymond Lam, Steven Ma
    Actress: Jessica Hsuan
    Character: Dek Dek Dei

    Default my thoughts

so far i think throughout the year so far, my top 5

best actress: Lee Si kei, Susanna Wong, Michelle Yim (TBOL), Linda Chung, (unknown yet). I think Lee si kei will win on the awards night
Best actor: Har Yue, Moses, Bobby. I think Moses will win in reality on the awards night

Best male character - Bobby (Father and sons), Wong hei (father and sons), Moses (HOG), Har yue (HOG), Michael tse (family link). Again moses to win in reality on the awards night
Best female character - Linda (HOG), LEe si kei (HOG), Tavia (DB), Susanna (HOG), Sheren (Family link)

Best series - HOG, TBOL, Father and sons. To win will be Heart of greed i think in reality on the awards night
In terms of the supporting female/male category and the rest, i am undecisive.

Am surprised that there isnt an award for the best partnership in the series category

how will the awards be awarded? Top 5 of each category or will there only be one winner for each category???

Indulge an old man a particular question: since this is TVB's 40TH ANNIVERSARY AWARDS program, shouldn't TVB be looking back at its entire forty-year history and making awards to programs and performers from throughout its illustrious history rather than just programs and performers of the past year or so? It's billed as a 40TH ANNIVERSARY show, but it's the same old "Gee, what did we do during the past year" program that TVB does *every* year.

During forty years, TVB has compiled quite an interesting history. I wouldn't mind a program that looks back in some detail at the highlights of those forty years.

I thought there were news that there are going to be 10 episodes where TVB Artists are going to talk about the history of TVB, isn't it?

It's billed as a 40TH ANNIVERSARY show, but it's the same old "Gee, what did we do during the past year" program that TVB does *every* year.

During forty years, TVB has compiled quite an interesting history. I wouldn't mind a program that looks back in some detail at the highlights of those forty years.
I'd definitely love to watch some clips of the older series, especially those way before I am even born!!

Maybe they should have another categories of awards for Best Actor, Actress, Supporting, Drama Series, Pairing in TVB history...but they have to do it during their 50th anniversary or at least every decade or it will not be as meaningful.

There are so many interesting things TVB could do in a 40-year retrospective.

    1. What was the very first TVB teledrama? Who performed in it? Who wrote the script? Who directed it? Are any of the people who worked on it still around? How about getting some of these folks to come in to comment on the experience of working on the very first teledrama?

    2. How about some old footage of the very first appearances of people who went on to become major stars at TVB and beyond? What were the first on-screen appearances of Chow Yun Fat? Tony Leung? Andy Lau?

    3. An examination of the evolution of the TVB production process from 1967 to 2007.

    4. Where are they now? Catching up with old TVB cast and crew who haven't been heard from in years.

Ken, your suggestions, as great as they are, one would assume TVB execs actually care about viewers' opinions. Making this event interesting and memorable would probably be the last thing on their minds. I'm surprised there are viewers left. Makes me sigh at the young generation.

Speaking from my point of view, TVB has sunk so low on my scale of respect that I doubt they can go any lower. We all know the awards are totally rigged. If Bosco and Kevin can be nominated for arguably the worst series of the year, that just proved what a joke these awards are.

What happened to the Golden Years? Where acting and storylines were unique and engaging? What happened to the fans who have the ability to recognize talent and not be impressed by shallow looks? There are viewers for bad acting and bad series. Tis very sad indeed.

Very interesting suggestions! However I believe most HK people dislike "4"

Yes there is. I think someone opened a thread about it some time back. So far, there's no official news or promo of such clips (there's 9 or 10 episode) yet though.

At the moment, the obvious prediction for Best Actor & Actress is Moses & LSK respectively. However, I'm saving my prediction until Men Don't Cry and The Ultimate Crime Fighter airs. Who knows if Yoyo's acting in TUCF came out as godsend or Dayo's series become the highest rated series of the year right?

With Dayo losing out the Best Actor a few years ago, he might be a formidable threat to Moses this year.

Dayo's series was the highest rated series in 2004 (To Catch the Uncatchable got higher rating than War and Beauty), but he didn't get the Best Actor award then. So, his series getting high rating won't guarantee his win. Dayo is not TVB's godson after all. He's a free agent who has acted for ATV just last year. Quite a lot is stack against him. I predict big win from the HOG cast. But, I hope Tavia will win something for her potrayal of Tam Chu Mei. She potrayed that character very well.
