Ha, finally some pleasant news about 56 from the Taiwan press: http://showbiz.chinatimes.com/Chinat...100299,00.html

The news report states that 56 has successfully moved into China market and is ranked within the top 25 male singers in a recent China poll. 56 has been invited to sing in and be part of the 30 April 2008 "100 days Olympics Countdown" celebrations. However, Sun Zhong was quite tight-lipped about this, he just said "We did receive the invitation for the sing-along and to attend the ceremony but no details yet. We had the invitation card but do not know who else are invited. We just know that the Olympics Committee will invite 100 celebrities from around the world to the event."

There was speculation that 56 is able to move into China because they fawn the blue (i.e. side Ma Yinjeou of KMT who is considered pro-China). Sun Zhong is not willing to talk about colours (politics) and explained that they happen to move into China at the right time and opportunity. Again he emphasized that the song "Bravo" is not to please China but just their contribution to the Olympics.

Athough 56 is advancing into China market, Xiezhi's roots will remain in Taiwan. Sanli (or settv) has yet to choose the male lead for the new 8pm Tai Yu show "真情滿天下" as Chen Zhao Rong is going into China. The producer is eyeing Xiezhi as the successor of the Tai Yu Yi Ge (male star). Sun Zhong is keeping an open mind about Xiezhi switching from idol to Tai Yu dramas.

Xiezhi started out as a Tai Yu singer so his Tai Yu is very good. Sun Zhong is confident that Xiezhi's performance will not be overshadowed by the experienced Tai Yu actors. The new show "真情滿天下" will have 3 male leads who are good friends and their characters are a reflection of historical figures. Just like the female lead, Zhang Feng Shu's character is similar to a female Zhu Ge (the very smart historical figure Zhu Ge Liang).

The producer felt that Xiezhi is a versatile artiste with potential. He can play a good loyal guy or a baddie. They will look at the script first before deciding which character will Xiezhi play.

You know, Tai Yu dramas are those very dramatic shows that can last hundreds of episodes and attract a different audience from the idol shows. These very long shows are very popular in Taiwan as the ratings are usually higher than the idol dramas.

Cross my fingers that these 2 pieces of good news are true. Liking 56 has taught me to be skeptical and not trust any news from Taiwan till announcements are made by the official source, Sun Zhong or Jstar.

Just an example, another pieces of news today is about Renfu. Without interviewing anyone, the reporter said that Renfu and Jiqin had already registered their marriage and they are trying for a son to carry on the family line because Renfu is an only son in his family! These Taiwanese reporters are hopeless! Everyone knows that Renfu has a younger brother ....

As for the 56 invitation to sing and xiezhi's possibility of starring in new role. . .I will cross my fingers too. It would be so awesome if that peice of news was true! Thanks for informing us. ^^

It's about time things start to look bright for 56. Their talent, hard work and perseverance should be recognized by and by. One of the most commendable qualities is giving their best shot in all that they do and never taking things for granted. Three cheers for them to greater success in the years to come.

Ah- some good news from the Taiwan press for a change. I really hope that Xiezhi is able to take on the role and that 5566 is able to be part of the April 30 Olympic countdown celebrations. It will really help boost their popularity even more.

Yes- I agree with you exadel about the tai yu dramas- look at how popular Liu Bo Wen is- plus if it goes on for hundreds of episodes that means that we can see XZ regularly.

Yes, really hope that Xiezhi can act in the tai yu drama. It is about time 56 members are recognised as serious actors/entertainers and not just idols. Being in a tai yu drama that lasts hundreds of episodes will further hone his acting skills and made him known to a wider spectrum of audience. Also realised that tai yu actors like Chen Zhao Rong, Huang Shao Qi and Huang Wei De are also famous in China and are given lead roles in China dramas.

Anyway, I think we should know the outcome soon. Filming for the new show "真情滿天下" will start in mid-April and the female casts are already confirmed but they have yet to select the male leads. The director is Feng Kai, who is the director of Mr Fighting. He won the golden globe award for best director and his dramas are well-received, such as "Tian Xia Di Yi Wei 天下第一味". It will be great if Xiezhi can work with him again.

Renfu & Mengzhe have WQYL . Shaowei is quite established in the idol drama. It's good for Xiezhi to find his niche in the very competitive showbiz arena even if it's via the taiyu dramas. He can broaden his viewership base n popularity. It seems that the vast majority in Taiwan speak Min nan ( taiyu) more than Mandarin. However, the downside of these long running epic dramas are the long, grueling hours spent on shooting the daily episodes, which could mean that Xiezhi might have to be grounded in Taiwan for a season should he choose to accept the San Lih lead role.

This guy is the lead actor in lots of tai yu dramas and I first saw him in Fei Long Zai Tian (Rising Dragon). The article is about him losing 15 kg in 40 days. You must be wondering why I mention him here ... well the important part of the news is in this portion:

San Li has a costume-fitting session yesterday for the "middle-aged" stars for the new show "真情滿天下" including ...(some names but I don't know any of them), Sun Xiezhi and Sun Zhong were also present. Director Feng Kai hoped that Jiang Hong En can be the lead male actor in this show. However, Jiang Hong En had to reject the offer as he will be filming a series in China.

About Xiezhi being at the costume-fitting session yesterday .... does it mean that his participation in the show is confirmed? Or worst, he is already considered "middle-age" at age 30!

Hopefully, they will have a costume-fitting session for the "young" stars soon and we can get some concrete news and pictures then.

Just to ask you. Did XZ and QN film a dramma togather?

The only show that Xiezhi and QiaoEn have acted together is MVP Valentine.

But around year 2005, they were selected as the leads in a new idol drama "侠女爱大猫 xia nu ai da mao". However, filming for this show kept being delayed until Xiezhi had to go to China to film Mojian so there were reports that the male lead was then given to Tang Jia Hao (the bad brother in Mr Fighting). Later, news again confirmed that the role of the male lead is returned to XZ. Filming was again delayed and it was said that Sun Zhong, Xiezhi and QiaoEn got tired of waiting ... anyway, the show was cancelled in the end.

Up to today, a lot of fans were still upset over this because they were looking forward to the paring of XZ and QE. More importantly, the role is supposedly tailor-made for XZ.

i've heard of the news and read about in the J-Star magazine about the news that they are going to film the dramma. But i didn't know that the dramma is being cancelled and change of the lead role.
I personally wish and hope that one day XZ will pair up with Qiao En to film a dramma.

This show is not very interesting and 56 was not given the opportunity to showcase what they do best, which is to bring fun and laughter to the show. The 2 hosts are just not lively enough and do not know how to take advantage of 56's talents.

For the past 3 years, DXQ and her 2 very close friends Vivi He Jia Wen and Ji Wen Hui had been organising an annual sales of celebrities' 2nd hand clothes. Besides themselves, their showbiz friends will also donate clothes and assessories for sales and the money collected are all donated to charity. This year is no exception and the charity sales is on yesterday and today.

56 had also been donating their clothes and the reporters will mention that Xiezhi is always the first one to donate. Last year's report mentioned that 56's clothes were immediately snapped up by their fans. Just wondering, Xiezhi is so thrifty and is always wearing the same clothes so what could he have donated?

This year's article on the charity sales focuses on Vivo Ho and Ji WenHui ... DXQ is probably avoiding the press. Anyway, the only sentence with mention of Xiezhi is:

紀文蕙和何嘉文昨天舉辦二手衣拍賣，包括丁小芹、何妤玟、宋新妮、劉真等藝人都捐出珍藏共襄盛舉。特別的是 ，女星們的「家眷」像丁小芹和紀文蕙的男友孫協志、丁春誠也有衣物出現，證明這兩對感情依舊穩 定。

It says that DXQ's boyfriend Sun Xiezhi has also donated his clothes so the reporter deduced that their relationship is still stable.

This show is more fun as they are able to capture the very lively 56. Perhaps 56 is also more relaxed because one of the hosts, Hei Ren is a Taiwanese and they can joke with him. Unfortunately, they edited out the part where Xiezhi drew his adorable dinosaur.

Yeah- I'm scratching my head too about Xiezhi donating clothes. He does repeat his clothes a lot (ie. the black zip-up turtleneck) and seems to be pretty thrifty so I wonder what he donated?
