    Again, its a common misconception that Western Broadswords/Longswords are big heavy lumbering weapons. The weight of a proper military broadsword is well within 4-5lbs. Katanas are not any lighter.

    I think when alot of people think "Western Swords", they think of something like a Claymore or a Flamberge, which are huge and a bit unwieldy.

    Caught the Nova episode. Very interesting and well done. I can't believe that guy stays up for three days during the smelting process to make sure the temperature is just right.

    And gets two types of steel from the same smelting process. Both are needed for the sword to have its famous qualities..
