Just bought the Chen Zheng sequel starring Jordan from Bluemax for SG$10 and the opening chapter is already full of fighting. More action than Ekin's Huo Yuen Jia.
This series ain't bad, but if they shortened it to maybe 30 eps (instead of the 42 eps) then it would be a great series. There were a lot of draggy scenes (especially some of the romance ones) that made the series boring at times. But the series did do the kungfu-related plotlines really well. If they increased the fighting aspect, took out the draggy scenes, and decreased the number of eps to 30, this would have been a classic.
One that bother me is that Chen Zhen is only 2 years younger than Hua Yuanjia!! That practically makes them brothers. I've watched the Fist of Fury with Donnie Yen and Hua Yuanjia and Chen Zhen have an age difference of at least 25+ years.
Anyway, all in all, a not bad series (just a bit draggy). I'll probably watch the sequel Jing Wu Chen Zhen with Jordan Chan.
BTW, how is the sequel compared to this one?
