Default Who would be considered A-list Chinese actresses?

I forgot to add..for MOVIES only: I'm making this up as I go along:

Zhou Xun (sometimes gets second lead though)
Xu Jing Lei (also a director)
    Gong Li
    Zhang Jing Chu (?)
Zhao Wei (definitely not her earlier works...but I think she's still somewhere up there)
Fan Bing Bing (won some awards...?)

    Taiwan:
    Rene Liu (sort of....)
    Shu Qi
Bridgette Lin (in the past, not anymore)

    Hong Kong:
    Maggie Cheung
    Sammi Cheng
    Carina Lau
    Miriam Yeung
    Cecilia Cheung (does she count?)
    Sandra Ng
    Karena Lam (?)
    Karen Mok (?)
    Charlie Yeung (?)

Xu Jing Lei is definitely A-list, she's like the youngest director to sit on some awards board and always gets meaty roles when she acts. Zhao Wei is not as active as before hmm..

Sandra Ng seems to do more supporting roles though, right?

Don't forget Joey Wong from HK. She was considered one of the best looking babes back then.

huh? I meant TWINS, like giliian and Charlene . They are A lists.... .

Sammi. tho she is succesfful, I think she is just overrated since she can't really act. Faye Wong is alright..............she isnt' active anymore.

    Did anyone say Kelly Chen?

    Michelle Yeoh is Malaysian.

Chinmy Yau is a category III actress....definitely not A-list.

Rosamund Kwan, not so much now I think. Maybe in the past..

Michelle Reis--she hasn't been in much stuff lately.

And Twins is certainly not A-list...

was she a category III like Shu qi? I think she was just B rated actress.. small roles.

    Rosamund Kwan,

eh, just famous as Auntie Yee in Wong Fei Hung

    Michelle Reis-

just a pretty face.. dont' know about A list

And Twins is certainly not A-list...

well, I think in Hk, yes

Actually, how are Maggie Q, CHristy Chung?

Shu Qi, I think is growing. Li Bing Bing too

Depends how you define A-list...if purely based on popularity, then yeah, Twins belongs on it, but I'm talking more about female leads who are considered for meaty roles as a result of their talent AND popularity.

Given that, I don't think the mentioned above are A-list...Maggie Q is known for being a vase/sex symbol, same w/ Christy Chung.

Shu Qi should be A-list, or pretty close to it. Li Bing Bing, not quite--she's still trying to tear apart from her previous role as a drama actress.

The media, both east and west (I think) has dubbed Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li, Xu Jinglei, Zhou Xun and Zhang Jingchu the top actresses in mainland china right now. Though the one gaining most attention atm would be Tang Wei, due to the recent release of Ang Lee's "Lust Caution" which could potentially turn her into an A-lister overnight. Zhao Wei, Fan Bingbing, Li Bingbing and probably Gao Yuanyuan are working their way there.

However, if based on popularity alone in mainland china, Zhao Wei, FBB, LBB and even LYF beat the A-listers.

I think all of the above are most likely A-listers though the more active ones at present would include Miriam, Cecilia (before her pregnancy) and Karena Lam. Charlie Yeung has been trying to make a comeback recently but i dont think its really working. Sammi Cheng has been focusing more on her music concerts at late.
