    Default Show Off Your Rigs!

There was a time when I was obsessed with having the fastest and best computer/parts simply for bragging rights. Anything computer related used to give me a hard-on. I soon realized(or wisened up) how expensive it was getting. Long story short...I stopped that obsession after I got my PIV 3.2GHZ when it first came out and have been with it ever since. That was like back since ~2002?

Well recently my bro just bought me a gift of a MOBO, CPU, and RAMS. I been outta the loop for a while and wow...quite a few things changed. I didn't feel I needed to upgrade but I thankfully accepted the gift. It's not the top of the line shtuff but nevertheless...an upgrade from my previous.

So share with us your rig/setup whether crappy or a supercomputer.

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz 1333FSB
    MOBO: ASUS P5GC-MX/1333
    RAMS: Kingston PC2-5300 667MHz DDR, 1GB x 2
    Video: Using onboard video
    Sound: Using onboard sound

    Transplanted from old setup:
    Case: Lian Li
    HD: SATA, 250GB, 500GB
    DVD: Plextor PX-760A
    PSU: Thermaltake 480W
Monitor: Crappy 19" Dell (have a wide, flat Viewsonic for my gaming rig in the kitchen)
    Keyboard: Logitech wireless

    Misc:
    Firewire card

Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

I haven't had any problems with it, though I mainly use it for making back ups and burning downloaded movies and software. I'm kinda planning to change my monitor and buy a new one with multi input capability(specifically hdmi and component)so i can hook up my ps3 to the monitor. My current one only has a dvi and vga input and my ps3 has no sound when connected to it, I had to use other means to produce the sound.

Hey, instead of using text-detail why not shown the pic of the whole nerd or otaku-headquarters and shown the rigs, posters, dvd, anime/manga models etc.

Show how big your LCD are or you got three LCD etc

    an example:

    Otaku Room

haha..that'll be great but unfortunately i'm not as fortunate as some of yous. My room is as big as a prison cell. I have my computer, hammock to sleep in, trash bin, then in the last corner are beer bottles piled knee high.

OMG! OMG! OMG! That is your room? Not only that, you're a guy!!!!! For some reason, I thought opposite. To have that big of a collection and set up two monitors and a laptop, you've got to be rich. And those mangas don't cost a penny apiece either. Dang!

That room is really cool but too much girly stuff. The owner must either be a female or a hentai dude.

Ok back on topic, here it is my crappy setup:

    assembled in 2001:

AMD Athlon (forgot the MegaHz - its LOW!)
    RAM 1GB
    Windows 2000
    Lame VGA card
    17 inch lame CRT monitor

DVD-RW - my fourth on the same computer, I burned a lots almost everyday since I buy this computer. Backup anime, tv, drama, movies, manga etc

HD - I installed 4 HDs, totaling about 1TB, I need bigger HD coz I only burned anime/tv/drama ONLY when the season complete, so need big capacity.

why crappy setup? no money to buy new one. Current config serve its purpose to do torrent and usenet leeching and executing VLC/MPC for anime/drama/tv fix. Recently system it seems has breakdown a lots, freeze, restart by itself etc.

It seems 7 years for a computer with heavy use like this is a big stretch hehe.

My rig's still the same, excepted I added another gig of RAM and swapped out the 8800 GTX for the 260 GTX instead. I'm thinking of adding in an SSD when the prices drop some more though, and putting Windows 7 on the machine (in which case, I'll probably be bumping up the RAM to 4 or 8).

If I feel really adventurous, I'd drop another six hundred or so and swap my mobo for an eVga X58 LE and put an i7 920 on it!

Win 7? Trustworthy? Or, is it another worse product of Microsoft Win?
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

I've considered that too(i7 940+) but it was beyond my budget. Spent a "G" just for the above upgrades. Now if you REALLY feel adventurous, get the Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition.

So far Win 7 is running great. Im running the x64 version for better memory handling. The interface is pretty much the same as its predeccesors. As far as technical difference, not sure yet since i havent researched it yet. It's fast though. Boots up fast, runs everything faster then Vista. No issues yet. Pple saying it's much like XP.
