Jun Qi Luo (Huo Siyan) is the wealthy daughter of the famous Ji Shi Manor and is dearly doted by her parents. Shen Si Ru (Sun Feifei) is an orphan adopted by the Jun family and grows up with Qi Luo. Although Si Ru is gentle and obedient, she is envious of Qi Luo's life and is upset when both of them fall for the same man, Mu Sheng (Wallace Chung) of the Mu Manor, who loves only Qi Luo. Depressed, Si Ru gives up on love and decides that only wealth and power can bring her happiness. When Mu Sheng leaves for some matters, the son of the famous Ming Manor, Ming Shao Qing (Sammul Chan) asks for Qi Luo's hand in marriage. Pretending to help Qi Luo escape the marriage, Si Ru offers to take her place instead and marries into the Ming Manor, becoming the Mistress of the manor. To get back at Qi Luo, Si Ru uses her influence to force Qi Luo to marry another man, Lin Chu Yi (He Sheng Ming), who secretly loves Qi Luo and agrees to act as her husband only on paper. When Mu Sheng returns, he is furious to learn that Qi Luo has married into the Ming Manor and burns the mansion down, saving only the mistress, whom he assumes is Qi Luo. He is stunned when he realises that the mistress is actually Si Ru, who in turn tells him that Qi Luo has already married Chu Yi. Saddened, Mu Sheng marries Si Ru, who is delighted and resumes her gentle and demure character. Mu Sheng then wants to compete with Chu Yi for the top martial artist title. To do so, he secretly arranges for Chu Yi to be killed. When Qi Luo learns of this, she looks Mu Sheng up and pleads for him to spare her husband. Mu Sheng agrees on the condition that she returns to his side for he still loves her. Si Ru is threatened when she realises that her husband still loves Qi Luo, and to add on, her previous husband, Shao Qing, whom everyone assumes was killed in the fire, turns out to be alive..

Thanks for making the thread! The series sound so dramatic.

Seems like Feifei is playing another villian role, since she was praised from the previous villian role. I don't fancy Huo Si Yan either. There's nothing special about her, yet she's been receiving lots of leading roles lately.

Im look forward to this series because i like the cast! Especially SFF and the leading males. A pity she's not paired with Wallace, though I dont mind Sammul as well. But yeah, seems like SFF plays a vengeful and manipulative character who is slanted towards the wicked side. Anyhow Yu Zheng mentioned in his blog that "Shen Si Ru" is a very complex character and difficulty to portray (since she switches from good to bad to good to bad again etc) so he was worried about the actress handling the role. However, he said when SFF was cast, he was relieved as he has no doubts about her acting, since he's seen her performance in several of his other works before (Seven Swords and CLX) and finds her a good and dedicated actress. I'm looking forward to her portrayal since the character sounds like its not actually a total villain like in her other series.

I dont particularly like Huo Si Yan, but i dont dislike her either. I think she's good-looking (very soft and delicate) but her acting is pretty bad. I don't know but her eyes (which i think is crucial in conveying emotions) always seem rather dead and lifeless in all the shows i've seen her in such that she comes across as stiff and wooden. I hope she improves in here since she's carrying the leading role.

Plot-wise, it's dramatic and all but i dont really find it all that original. There's been a couple of series about 2 women being close as sister than drifting apart because of some stuff and becoming rivals (one good, one bad) etc. The latest one i can think of is "Dali Princess", starring Ruby Lin and Liu Tao. Ruby Lin's character is the wealthy but nice girl (like Huo Si Yan's character) and Liu Tao's character is a maid in her household who is very close to her but later plots again her (like SFF's character). Then there's a whole bunch of love triangles, lost-and-found romances etc. One of SFF's latest series also has this good-bad sister plot.

Yu Zheng must really like Huo Si Yan, eh? I first saw her in Woman's Hotspring and her character definitely wasn't soft and delicate in there. I don't think she's a bad actress from what I've seen, but she's yet to impress me either. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this series. Love the male cast (namely Wallace, Sammul and Damian).

I think so, he cast her as lead actress in just his last series, "Zui Hou De Ge Ge" and now in here as well. I've yet to see Huo Si Yan really perform well though. I've seen her in "Shao Nian Tian Zi", "Liao Zhai Zi Yi", "Huan Tian Xi Di Qi Xian Nu" and the movie "Wo Yao Cheng Ming"- where she even got a best newcomer nom. at the golden horse awards but her acting is the same old boring style and as stiff and awkward in all 4 works. Almost LYF-like but slightly more natural and less annoying.

Probably you might be familiar with Liao Zhai 1, starring Hu Ge and Huang Xiao Ming. She was in the story with Tae and Leila.

She also star in the series Seven Fairies w/ Jiang Xin and The Last Princess w/ Yan Kuan.

Wallace looks handsome and Sammul looks alright as well; Huo Siyan looks just like she did in "The Last Princess" and SFF looks pretty though im not liking that weird fringe of hers. She looks very pretty in this pic though, cant picture her as a villianess with that sweet face.
