"The World is Flat" version 3.0 by Thomas Friedman ........... it's an insightful book on how the forces of globalization is reshaping history and culture.

Since the only book I've read this year is 'Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows', it wins by default.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

really! i always read. i go through so many books. then i read them again, and again, and again, till i get sick of them. 'harry potter' isn't that good. i expected a better ending, but the plot was so catchy! i read it in five hours, not including the time my mum took from me so i could work without suddenly picking up the book again.

The best book for me was Musashi written by Eiji Yoshikawa. It is also probably one of the top 5 books I have ever read in my life...and I read about 4 books a week so that is something.

For Wuxia lovers out there I strongly recommend this book. You can find it at any borders like store. I found mine in the "Literature" section.

Has anyone read books written by susan elizabeth phillips? She's really good. I can't pick out my favourite among all her books.

I love most of her books, especially the humor she usually injects her stories. Have you tried Kiss An Angel? That's my personal fav by her and one of my all-time fav stories. Simply adore Daisy in it. She's so funny at the beginning of the story and despite her rather chaotic childhood and her obvious insecurity, she still manages to be giving and retains a touch of innocence in her.

If you ask SEP's fans, most of them will tell you that the Chicago Stars series is their fav. You should try that too if you haven't. I am a little disappointed in her latest 2 releases. Not that they are no good, which they are if they are not written by SEP but coming from this author, I've expected even more.

I think I read this book this year rather than in 2006: Girl in Time Square by Paullina Simons.

The story begins with Lily, a laid-back young lady struggling to pay her bills, finish her studies and deal with the fact that she has just broken up with her boyfriend. But nothing prepares her for the changes she is about to face in her life when her best friend and house mate suddenly disappears. Suspicions, heartache, deaths...I remember hating to put the book down due to other commitments and wished I could just lock myself in my bedroom until I am done with the book.

Paullina Simons is born in Russia, lives in USA but her books are always released in Australia and New Zealand first before it's released in USA and Britain. It's due to some publiser issues which is rather frustrating to fans who live outside Australia and NZ. I've to wait 1 year (or is it 2?) for a book to be released in USA and Britain to get hold of it ; get a friend in Australia to purchase another title for me (which, if I have to wait for USA and Britain version, I'd still be waiting right now) and have to go through online Australian bookstore to get a 3rd book.

Her most famous work is The Bronze Horseman, the first book of a trilogy. A must-read for people who has tried and like her books.

Does the Bible count?

If not, then I would have to say John Marsden's "Circle of Flight".

When Titans Clashed: How the Red Army Stopped Hitler

Description:
By the time Pearl Harbor had ripped apart America's peacetime pretensions, the German blitzkrieg had already blasted the Red Army back to the gates of Moscow. Yet, less than four years later, the Soviet hammer-and-sickle flew above the ruins of Berlin, stark symbol of a miraculous comeback that destroyed the German army and shattered Hitler's imperial designs. Simply put, Hitler loss and goes back wearing his huggies.

A good book for anyone who is interested in history.
