    Default PETA vs Bi (Rain)

Stop wearing fur, rights group tells S Korean pop star

Wed Nov 21, 6:01 AM ET

SEOUL (AFP) - An animal rights group Wednesday criticised South Korea's top entertainer Rain for "dressing like a caveman" and urged him to set a good example to fans by ditching fur.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Asia Pacific (PETA) said in a statement it had written to the pop star calling on him to stop living up to the name of his first album -- Bad Guy -- by wearing fur.

"You have said that you want to show American women 'how sweet and loving Asian men are'. Correct us if we're wrong, but wearing fur is anything but 'sweet' and there is no 'loving' way to rip the skin off a still-twitching animal," the letter says.

"And although you have likened yourself to 'SexyBack' singer Justin Timberlake, you are anything but sexy for wearing the fur of tortured animals on your back."

PETA said millions of animals are killed for their fur by electrocution on farms or in the wild by drowning, trapping or beating.

Rain has won top awards throughout Asia and he became the first Asian artist to be invited to the American MTV Video Music Awards in 2005.

when you have PETA on your back, it's gonna be ugly. look what happened to J-Lo. eeeshh!

i've never been a fan of fur, don't see what is so pretty about it. plus the animals that die. but i'm not a hard core defender like PETA.

I guess I'm hoping for too much, but if PETA wants points from me, they should send an assassin to kill Bi. Then I might consider supporting those crazy PETA folks.

That's called losing sight of the goal in a BIG way.

PETA would do much more good for protecting animals if they ditched the image they've acquired as fanaticists and borderline terrorists.

As someone who lives in the Great White North, I'm all for wearing fur if it's for the purpose of keeping warm and it doesn't threaten the existence of a species. Even then, what if it came down to freezing to death or killing the last breeding pair of fur-bearing trout on earth? What would you do?

I am against killing animals just for fashion - there are enough artificial products that can be used for that purpose. But then I have to ask what environmental damage is being done during the manufacturing process.

Agree that PETA are nuts because they're all about saving cute and cuddly animals, without regard for the real long-term damage resulting from their actions. How many PETA members swat mosquitoes? What do they do when they find a cockroach in their home? How many live in big houses that sit on land where rabbits, squirrels, and other animals used to live? Humans didn't get to where they are by being nice to the other animals on this planet, and there isn't a single one of us that isn't responsible for the deaths of animals in one way or another. Suck on that PETA!!

Because she's not as big as Rain.

I don't like that Rain is wearing fur either, but seriously, all you can do is voice your opinion but to threaten them is insane.

PETA euthanized most of the animals that are sent to them or 'rescued' by them.

    Crazy people.

    We Spell Hypocrisy P-E-T-A

Sometime today, two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are expected to turn themselves over to Southampton, VA police to face charges of grand and petty larceny. Earlier this week, Carrie Beth Edwards and Andrea Florence Benoit, riding in a PETA-owned van, allegedly snatched a hunting dog from the side of the road. A witness alerted a local animal control officer who stopped the van and forced the two to hand over the kidnapped canine. The dog's radio tracking collar had been removed and thrown into the street. That collar, plus what a police detective described as "markings on the side of [the dog] indicating that it belonged to a specific person," clearly showed that it was not a stray in need of a home, but a hunting hound set roaming the countryside -- a practice that's perfectly legal in Southampton County.

Given PETA's well-documented habit of killing the animals it takes in, the captured pooch would likely have met the business end of a euthanizing needle in no time flat if law enforcement hadn't intervened. Between 1998 and 2005, the very group that claims to advocate for animals' "rights" killed over 14,400 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals." Since they only took in about 17,800 animals, that amounts to a death rate of about 80 percent -- nearly three times higher than that of the Norfolk (VA) SPCA, located less than 4 miles from PETA's headquarters.

These new legal troubles couldn't have come at a worse time for PETA. On November 13, two other employees of the Virginia-based animal rights group will (finally) be tried on 22 felony counts of Animal Cruelty and 3 counts of Obtaining Property By False Pretenses. In June 2005, PETA workers Andrew Cook and Adria Hinkle were arrested in Ahoskie, North Carolina after police observed them throwing bags filled with dead dogs and cats into a trash dumpster. As witnesses from the Bertie County (NC) Animal Shelter and the Ahoskie Animal Hospital later confirmed, Cook and Hinkle had collected the animals earlier that day with the promise that PETA would find them adoptive homes.

I am not into wearing furs for fashion. I don't feel as bad for animals being tested for medicine tho. I think I remember reading somewhere that certain PETA members tried to blow up labs in the name of animals.

Remember This Case? Oh the irony!

Nothing to do with animals but yea maybe Rain should stop dressing like a caveman!
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

    PETA's wacky ideology.

Dying for Liberation (Why is PETA killing animals?)

    Kill ratio of PETA

    PETA's Dirty Secret

This is a real eye opener for me. I always thought PETA saved animals, not killing them.

PETA are nuts. They can suck my balls. I would never support their mindless rambling sh*t.

My only encounter with PETA was in front of a McDonald's restarurant. They were holding up signs and one dressed in a cow costume while giving away free balloons. The kids love their ballons very much while enjoying their happy meals.

Well is wrong to wear fur and I don't see them as a fashion...but the comment was very rude they should do in a more formal way....between people do you know why atleast peta put them down...is because we are over cats and dogs...and to tell the truth they are suffering a lot of being stray i just saw some kitten been torture by some 10 years old kids. Even some dogs are been blown up by crackers or put fire on their tails..Im not gonna argue i think is wrong to put animals down..but if you think about it , is less suffering for them...even though im not in side with PETA but I know this situation a lot...cats and dogs when they give birth is atleast 2 or 6 babies. That's why each year they heave to put down so much...I own 5 cats and they are all fixed.

Oh and one more thing people tends to buy a cat or a dog in store or by some breeders and don't adopt them in SPCA center as you see most PEOPLE buy animals and abandon them (no responsability). Also they rather take kittens or the most cute cats...like White colors Kitten or cute Pups. And living on the cage for several months you'll get crazy so that's why also they need to put down. Some several case are not the same...but everything has a reason.
