    Default Melon Bread Lovers

    Of all the dim sum morsels that is delicious. I always love eating melon bread, I think thats what its called.

    Here's a picture of it:
    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://www.nerima-lionsclub.com/blogn224/blognplus/files/melon_bread.jpg')

    Not a good picture off the internet (google). Usually it has this yellow crusty stuff spread on it and it comes in small sizes at restaraunts during dim sum while at bakeries, they do come in large palm size.

    I'm just wondering why they call it a melon bread, is it made of melon flavor? doesn't taste it?

    It's shaped like a melon. Kinda like how it's called Pinapple Bun in Chinese regions. It has marks that resembles the outside layer of the fruit that it's named after. What it really is just bread with a cookie crust baked on top.

    i thought a pineapple bun actually had pineapple flavored gel on the inside of the bread...

    first time i tried "melon" bread, i was quite disappointed because i was actually expecting melon flavor! but, the bread itself was nevertheless delicious

    Pineapple bun didn't have any pineapple flavoring until more recently. From where I live I sometimes get them with cha siu inside. Martin Yan has a recipe for "real" pineapple buns in one of his cookbooks if anyone's interested in.

    I'm no pineapple bun lover. I eat them because they are tremendously cheap comparing to those overpriced American pastries. Inflation has a major effect on the prices of these buns. Ten years ago, they were 25˘ each; now, they are selling at 50˘, a jump of 50%. These buns can be dry. Spread some "i can't believe it's not butter" on it before shoving it down your throat. Unless you are a big eater, 3 of these will fill you up.

    1. no pineapple flavor
    2. might have custard or red bean paste filling

    The other day I had to ask forgiveness for missing the Thanksgiving party by tempting everybody with Chinese pastries at work. I bought a dozen of different kinds and the price sum up to around $15. I think the lady ripped me off. But she did ask me if I was going to visit my girlfriend so that made me somewhat happy.

    Yeah. Thanksgiving's overrated anyway. It's really just a celebration of victory for oppression over a group of indigenous people. Half joking, of course. It's also a day where you stuff yourself silly with turkey.

    Sorta, it's really dry. But there's plenty of meat. Kinda like the opposite of duck. Tastes real good but there's hardly any meat.

    I had one. I used to help load boxes for a teacher who sold Krispy Kremes during class. Taste like any other donut if you ask me.

    i always thought of "pineapple" buns as the kind of bao old people eat.
