Important
I'm finalising the dates, this time, i hope it will cater to as many people as possible. If you are busy in the next few weeks, you can submit in the week before the closing date, and vice versa, you record early and submit now. Preferably earlier, especially if you need me to mix.
The closing date for entries will be the 27th December 2007.
The first polls will close on the 2nd January 2008
The final polls will be posted immediately afterwards and voting will close on the 8th January 2008.
It is expected that finalists will have recorded two songs before the 3rd January 2008. Everyone should prepare two songs in the case they make it to the finals, with at least one before the first poll begins and a second before the first poll ends.
There will be the following divisions:
Soloists:
- acappella (ie, without background music)
- background music (ie. karaoke type, with a backing track)
You may enter BOTH divisions, acappella AND background music
Groups/Duets
- each group/partnering should enter ONE song.
You may enter as a soloist AND in as many different groups as you wish.
When submitting your song, please write a brief 2-3 sentence statement relating to your entry. If none is submitted, i will write one for you

To record, first you need a microphone/mp3 or some other recording device. There are a number of programs you can download which will allow you to record and mix your tracks. The simplest, which i used until about a month ago, is 'audacity' which is free. The other option that i can, cough, help provide (hint hint) would be the more advanced cool edit pro, which is of course, not freeware, but...
I'll see if i can get a simple tutorial instruction thing posted in the next few days including screencaps
i think a few factors can be taken into account- there's obviously the quality of the microphone, how well you use software effects.
if you get white noise, that can be easily filtered out using a sound program, so that's no problem at all.
if you're recording using mp3, the chances are you have a choice of recording qualities, in which case i would choose the highest
so i read the list from the initial post, and saw skyking on it...which just made my day haha. i can't wait to laugh harder if he's really part of this.
u are too?
yeah yeah, don't make fun of the ghetto viet
I didn't mention this competition or mean to dragged you yet. but since u crawled here by your own free will..
