Actually, both are treated pretty much as dancing monkies. It's just that Asians are more sensitive to certain stereotypes and portrayals and consequently were more mortified by William Hung than white guys would be about this guy. That, and William Hung had a far higher penetration into media.

i mean generally when u just look at youtube, most of the chinese singers singing in english get racist comments
