    Default Juno

There is a new American movie called 'Juno' about a young girl getting pregnant. I thought it looked a lot like 'Jenny and Juno', the Korean movie also about a pregnant little school girl. Does anyone know if it's another Korean movie remade by Americans?

    Summary:
Juno is a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy by her classmate Bleeker. With the help of her hot best friend Leah, Juno finds her unborn child a "perfect" set of parents: an affluent suburban couple, Mark and Vanessa, longing to adopt. Luckily, Juno has the total support of her parents as she faces some tough decisions, flirts with adulthood and ultimately figures out where she belongs.

The humors in this movie are very quirky, despite the serious nature of the movie content. It receives many positive reviews so far, and it had even won the 2006 Independent Spirit Award.

Omg I can't believe I didn't comment on this thread!

Juno is AMAAAAAZING. Hands down my favourite movie of 2007 (earlier it had been Transformers, but I watched the movie so many times that I just started making fun of it), and probably one of my fave movies of all-time. I saw it while it was still on limited release in the city and the dialogue is smart and witty, while some scenes really tugged at my heartstrings.

And let's not forget the most important aspect - it's about "a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy." Sound like anyone you guys know? Personality-wise I consider myself quite like Juno, so this movie was in some ways the story of my life! lol!

But really, see the movie (not that it's in theatres anymore). I've never seen Jenny and Juno but I highly doubt it can match Juno in terms of witty dialogue It's one of the few ones that can make me genuinely laugh and cry. It got an Oscar nom too, not that the Academy appreciates comedy

Yes, Il-Mare was re-produced by Hollywood. It is called The Lake House starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. It didn't do so well. And it lacked charm and the feeling of the original Il-Mare was not found in this reproduction, imo.

My Sassy Girl, was in the talks, but I don't think it's been re-made yet. But again, I doubt it'd be as good as the original.

Another Korean movie that Hollywood is working on is My Wife Is A Gangster. It was rumored that Queen Latifah was to star as the lead. I'm still waiting for it to release.

    Default The Original Jenny, Juno!

This is what I'm talking about!

The girl's name was Jenny and the boy's name was Juno in this one. And seriously the storyline is very similar. Did one of the scriptwriters watched Jenny, Juno and decided to write something similar? IMO this is wayyyyyy too similar and if it didn't get an okay from the Koreans, then they should be in deep shit.

    From wikipedia.

What a bunch of shit from this writer! If I was the writer of Jenny, Juno I'd sue this writer!

Rumours arose about the similarities of Jenny, Juno to a 2007 American comedy film, Juno, which also deals with teenage pregnancy and features a character with the name Juno (a girl). The film's screenwriter, Diablo Cody, commented on the coincidence in October 2007, stating that she had been unaware of the existence of Jenny, Juno prior her own film's release. She said that, although she had not yet watched Jenny, Juno, she now is interested in seeing it.

All I know the next new American movie: The Eye with Jessica Alba and some guy is the remake of the Asian horror movie: The Eye. From the American trailers, its close to the same thing, just some extra special effects. Who knows, maybe an American version of The Eye 2, since the Asian version already has one. The Independent movie: Juno is not widely known in other theaters, however there is a nearby theater, which is showing this movie.

Before you girls get all mad at Hollywood, have you at least seen the Korean movie? Just because both have the same concept does not make it a ripoff.

Yes, I have seen Jenny, Juno. That is why I got really angry when I saw the trailer of Juno.

Oops, I should have asked you if you've seen Juno yet. I saw the whole movie "Jenny, Juno" on YouTube and although I haven't seen "Juno" yet, from the trailer, both movies seem different.

"Jenny, Juno" is a very ordinary movie IMO, even way too cute to the point of wanting to provoke puking. From what I've heard about "Juno" is really special and one of the best movies of 2007.

Anyway, I think it's better to reserve judgement until you've seen "Juno". It is quite useless to get mad at true remakes and it's even stupider to get mad at something you don't know the story yet.

Again, you've just jumped to a conclusion before asking. I have seen Juno.

Yes I have because nowhere have you said that you've seen it and Asians have the tendency of always whining about ripoffs which often are not. So you really think both are that similar that the producers of Jenny, Juno have enough reason to sue?

i watch both movies, and they're totally different, other than the fact that both have a pregnant teenage girl as a lead and both titles have the word Juno (although the name was meant for different genders - girl in the hollywood movie, & boy in the korean).

Although the premise of both movies is about how the girls come to deal with their pregnancy, the way that they did it is totally different.

In Juno, much of the storyline places emphasis on Juno choosing to give away her kid for adoption and the relationship between her and the adoptive parents. Almost nothing in the story was about Juno's best friend Michael, who also happens to be the biological father.

Whereas in Jenny, Juno; the entire movie is practically just about both teenagers making the decision to keep the baby together and how they go about the situation when their parents find out.

Take out the name Juno in "Juno" and I doubt anyone would make a connection between the movies.

For me the similarities are enough to say that it was a copy cat.
    Title and the storyline.
