Any forumers here cook just for themselves?
What is it like time wise - how much time spent on preparing evening meals?
Any suggestions of dishes that are sufficient nutrition wise, time-efficient and noob-friendly?
Thanks.

Me!! I cook for myself, Doctor.
I cook instant noodles.
Prep time? Depends on what kind of noodles I have. If it's a packaged one where I have to boil water.. then it takes about 5 mins. If it's the cup noodles, then just 3 mins.
First of all, what tools/utensils/appliances do you have at home?
Make a list, and I'll see what I can come up with.
I used to cook for myself and sometimes guests when I lived alone.
(Now, Mom cooks! Hooray!)
Thanks. I am not actually sure - I will flat next year and have to cook for myself. Already ok with chinese stirfry dishes, but they take some time to prepare. I imagine I'd have a stove oven, microwave - basic utensils, knife, board, hopefully a wok, pans etc.
Don't worry I will improvise if I don't have the utensil.

gugu/lunar?
anyways a good and easy dish to cook for urself to go along with rice is tomato and eggs. just slice up 1-2 tomatoes (u can prob get about 8 pieces per tomato), add some oil to the wok (no idea the exact measurement, but add until the wok is 3/4 filled at the bottom), crack 2-4 eggs (depends how much u want, but i heard leftover eggs are not good for men hehe so i suggest like 2 eggs if ur not gunna finish it in 1 day), fry/scramble egg for a minute, dump in the sliced up tomatoes, fry for like 3 more min or until it looks done, then eat along with rice its healthy and easy to make

dumplings are incredibly easy to make. you can buy the dough covering, and all you need is some meat and vegetables (sorry, i can only say the ingredients in cantonese), sliced+diced thin, and one egg, on the side, and then you wrap the dumplings up. goddddd...i sound confusing. i bet nobody can understand me...
i tell you what, go and buy those buns you can steam up, and have them instead. i like them.
i can cook rice, eggs, and instant noodles, and dumplings.
Yes, I do! Cooking can be fun. Occasionally, I do up a simple breakfast for my family too (provided that I can get my butt up). Breaky don't need that much time to do. Hmmm, 30-40mins should be sufficient.
Breaky ==> Omelette (depends on what I can find in the fridge.)
In Fridge ---- If Chicken fillet -- Cube it after defroze. If prawns -- cut it into smaller pieces after defroze. Mince mutton or beef are the best!
With beverage and Bombay Toast or garlic bread. Yummy!

i find pasta to be one of the easiest meals to cook for yourself. just boil water, cook the pasta, and add sauce. you can mix it up with different kinds of pasta, different kinds of meat or veggies, different types of sauces for variety.

I cook for myself as well. I frequently make my own version of chicken fried rice which contains a cut up pepper, some sliced onion, frozen mixed veggies, previously prepared fried whipped egg and pre-cooked chicken strips [which I can buy at the store]. You can substitute shrimp for the chicken as a variation. After I've cooked the egg in the wok and put it aside, I add more oil to the wok along with a favorite stir-fry sauce. When done, I then add the cooked rice and mix it all together. Add some soy sauce if you wish. If I'm really hungry, because I missed lunch, I'll whip up some spicy noodles to go with it.
Oops, I forgot to add the water chestnuts and bamboo shoots.
You can toss in some sliced fresh mushrooms as well.
It just dawned on me that I could use crab meat in this dish..

Yuh, James go the rite idea. I love young bamboo shoots! Stir fry with some pork. Yumms. Especially the ones that comes pickled and spicy.
Yitzz,
You need one of these bro. A bachelor's best friend, a table top electric grill. Healthy since grease drains into a pan. Can cook up about just anything. Beef, fish, pork, vegetables.

Well there are various sizes and brands. The one I have is DeLonghi BG24. Cheapest I found was on ebay. Can just search electric grill or the actual model.
They are around $30-$40 USD so that's like $1,000 AUS. hahahahah

Cooking for yourself is joy. You choose your own recipes and you make your own variation.
Of course, if I'm lazy and feeling slightly apathetic, I just cook the simple things like fried rice, fried noodles, sushi, souvlaki's, etc. That all usually takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on my pace. When I'm in a cooking mood, and have all my ingredients at home, one of my favourit=e meals is to cook zucchini slice. Delicious, and low-fat.
Desert; choc-chip cookies are pretty much my mostly cooked desert, and sometimes a marbled cheese-cake, or carrot and apple muffin really fills my stomach.
Sometimes it's hard to love someone because you're so afraid of losing them.
When I was in university, I did cook for myself. I did eat instant noodles knowing that they are very unhealthy. Sometimes, I just cook one dish only with pork or chicken and some vegetables stir-fried in a pan. But usually, I just order pizza or go out for takeaway or to a restaurant.
