The Golden Path is Mediacorp's 25th Drama Anniversary series and year-end blockbuster. It is about a widow (Chen Liping) raising her three children (Chew Chor Meng, Tay Ping Hui and Joanne Peh) and two step-children (Li Nanxing and Joey Feng), and the enmity between them.

I'm skeptical about Li Nanxing playing the role of Jinlong though. Yes he still looks good but not young. He still looks much older than Chew Chor Meng and Tay Pinghui...

And if a snipshot preview on the TV is to be trusted, Li Nanxing's Jinlong never called Chen Liping's Xiaogu 'mum'.

Oh, I used to like Li NanXing and never knew his name. I've only seen Tay Ping Hui in Mars Vs. Venus, and how he really looks like a homely dad and husband in that series. Though, I must admit there are certain scenes where he looked attractive.

Good acting by Chen Liping and Li Nanxing.
Now that the show have fast forwarded 13 years, Li Nanxing is no more Chen Liping's boyfriend. He is her step-son now.

I really like Chen Liping pairing up with Li Nanxing. But too bad, so short-lived. And great acting from both of them.

Chen Liping's character turned old in the series with the makeup. The makeup was not too exaggerated as she was only 40 plus years old in the 1995, not 70 years old. It is Li Nanxing who didn't "turn young", if it is possible at all with makeup.

On the other hand, I suppose I prefer Li Nanxing over some young actor who could not act for nuts.

I get a queasy feeling whenever I see Kaijie teaching Jinfeng to cheat their mother... That's just so horrible of him. >_<

Because none of the newbie actors have the charisma and experience to pull off such a big role. Anyway, as of now, this series is supposed to be set in the late nineties, so there's still another 10 years or so for the characters to age and develop.

That i totally agree. None of the recent newbie actors have the experience to pull off Jin long's role. Anyway, the girl that is selling the bat kut teh, anyone find her outshining felicia chin and joanne peh? Personally, i feel that she acted very well and outshine both of them. Havent seen her in any series yet though.

She is Cai Peixuan, a Malaysian actress.

naxing and liping showed why they are in the business for so long..

even tay ping hui is good as the evil one..

but can anybody tell me why feifei like jinlong so much in the first place..it was never told (or was it?) except that jinlong saved her in the first few episodes..
