1) Tang Wei- The newcomer turned famous overnight after going bare in award-winning movie "Lust Caution", which is also China's most talked about film this year. Tang Wei was also awarded Best New Performer at this year's Golden Horse Awards.

I wasn't that surprised to see Tang Wei's name at the top since she seems to be the most talked about Chinese actress recently, especially after the release of "Lust Caution" but mainly because of her daring scenes in the movie.

Anyhow, I think Joan Chen should be included in the list as well for her successful comeback this year, especially with the movie, "Home Song Stories" which won her 5 major acting awards, 4 of which were Best Actress Awards, including the latest one at this year's Golden Horse Awards.

On a side note, I notice some of the usual hot favourites like Gong Li, Vicki Zhao, Zhou Xun and Zhang Jingchu are missing from the list.

Vicki barely did anything this year besides Red Cliff..she's still a student right now. Zhou Xun didn't do much either--Perhaps Love (2006?) was the year for her. Zhang Jing Chu was in Rush Hour 3 *yawns* boring boring...And also Protege, but it wasn't that special.

But yeah, Gong Li and Joan Chen aren't getting much love, probably because they're focusing on younger actresses (minus Carina).

It so obvious they are up there but there are some better then some in that list.

I don't believe Liu Jia Ling should be on that list; and Gong Li should be.

However, I have to agree Li Yu Chun is Succesful, but beauty wouldn't be the best way to describe her.

If im not wrong, this year's the first time Carina Lau actually won a best actress award after being nominated so many times.

As for Gong Li, this year seems rather quiet for her so it's no surprise she's not on that list.
