Design your ELOC version of Novel endings

Usually (or is it Always?), Jin Yong's novels end with notable character doing something.

How can we ELOCify the endings to our likings?

Here are some opportunities that I see:

Original Ending - Returning to Dali, Duan Yu and Wang Yuyan encounter a mentally deformed Murong Fu; Duan Yu realizes that Murong Fu has finally achieved his goal, at least in his mentally deformed mind.

ELOC ending #1 - Returning to Dali, Duan Yu overhears a conversation about trying to kill Qiao Feng. Duan Yu follows them to their home. When they turn into an intersection, suddenly several miserable shrieks are heard. Duan Yu rush to the scene, only to find all 7 men dead. Their bodies have been slashed with a "jin" character. On one person's corpse is a shiny yellow note. It reads: "The 7 brothers of Guanxi Qi family (**) intended to seek your big brother for revenge; I have taken care of the situation to repay my debt to Brother Qiao. In the years to come, me and my descendants will ensure the safety and reputation of Brother Qiao's legacy. Hold me to my words." -- Sincerely yours, The Zhuo Clan.

Duan Yu cannot fathom who this Zhuo Clan is yet, but judging by the accuracy and speed of its 7 Single-Stance Executions in half blink of an eye, he knows that his big brother's remains will be safe as long as the Zhuo Clan exists.

** These are the brothers of Guanxi Qi brother #6 FAST SABRE Qi Liu, who was unintentionally half-killed by Qiao Feng

Original ending - All of the remaining Greats accidentally meet Reverend Jueyuan and Zhang Junbao.

ELOC ending -- Same as above, but after Yang Guo bids everyone goodbye, he tells Xiao Longnu that there is one more person that he needs to pay tribute to before going into seclusion forever. He told her that if not for this person, they would not be together right now. When she inquired about his identity, Yang Guo smiled: "he is Golden Wheel Monk's first disciple. But we are not going to see him because he has long deceased. We are going to create a shrine for him instead." And then, the couple faded into the sunset.

...END OF NOVEL...

BUT WAIT!

As the couple near the future shrine of Golden Wheel Monk's first disciple, they smell fire. They realize it's coming from a gigantic grill. Presiding over the grill is the Human Cook.

"I figured I ought to start cooking humans," says the Human Cook, "so as to live up to my name. Except I've never actually cooked humans, so I thought I'd go through the simians--from monkeys to chimps--to work my way up to humans. I'm at apes now." Gesturing at two terrified figures laying bound on the floor, Human Cook continues, "I was starting to get hungry. Luckily these two happened to come by with an ape. Funny thing is, they seem rather attached to their ape. I offered them a lot of money for the ape, but they refused. Then I lost my patience and decided to beat their puny derrieres."

The couple takes a closer look at the two hapless figures. Turns out they're Yin Kexi and Xiao Xiangzi! And the ape is their ape! What's going to happen next?

Original ending: Shi Potian gasps: "Who am I?"

ELOC theme: Jin Yong suddenly pulls a Gu Long out of nowhere

ELOC ending: continued from original ending...

At this point, every guest heard a crisp clear voice: "I know who you are."

Everyone gazed at the person who delivered this voice. It was a man in his 50s. He was wearing a bright pink robe, his face had pimples all over it, and he had a long beard split in three ways. Shi Qing knew this man was GOLDEN SABRE STOCKADE leader An Fengri. Shi Qing stepped up to ask: "Brother An, can you shed some light on this child's identity?"

"Don't you know?" An Fengri replied indifferently.

"I'm afraid not." Shi Qing replied.

"Humph. Then it cannot be revealed." An Fengri said.

"Why not?"

"For it would be against the heavens to reveal a secret when the time is not right."

"Why is the timing not right?"

"You really don't know?"

Shi Qing shook his head: "I really have no idea."

"Then you must die."

"Are you sure?" Shi Qing inquired.

"Why do you ask?"

"You don't know?"

"I don't... wait a minute, I'm supposed to say that!" An Fengri protested.

Suddenly, An Fengri shrieked like a little pony, then he fell down forever. It was Bai Zizai who stabbed An in the throat. Bai Zizai laughed hysterically: "This joker has nothing on the child. He doesn't even know kung fu."

Shi Qing pulled out his sword: "You who's named Bai, you interfered with my business, I shall kill you."

Bai Zizai laughed even louder: "Try me, if you dare."

Min Rou asked: "Little friend, my husband and I will battle your girlfriend's grandfather in a duel to the death. Whose side will you take?"

Shi Potian was stuck in the bottom of confusion. He shook his head and sighed: "I don't even know who I am, how can I pick a side?"

As the two sides prepare for the ultimate duel, what will the child do?

btw other than what has been translated so far of OTG, I don't actually know how the plot of OTG goes, but--no joke--I really, really want to know how the basic storyline/ending goes. Would someone please spoil it for me? Thanks!

Hehe, the alliteration was an unplanned "freak accident", so to speak.

I can give a general overview.

Shi Potian was kidnapped by SKYSCRAPING CLIFF RESIDENT Xie Yanke to the mountains, where for the next several years Xie Yanke taught him to practice extreme Yin and extreme Yang martial arts separately, which was extremely dangerous. The point was to kill Shi Potian "naturally" without Xie Yanke actually laying a hand on him.

One day, just when Shi Potian was on the verge of fire deviation, the Eternal Happiness Clan came to take Shi. Shi Potian looked exactly like Shi Zhongyu, who had been the previous clan leader, so the clan wanted its leader back. The reason why they elected a child Shi Zhongyu to be the leader is simply for him to go to Gallant Island as a scapegoat. Now that the date to go is nearing, the clan wants its leader back. So they manage to take Shi Potian, and through some more freak accidents, Shi Potian gained extreme amount of internal energy, more than fathomable. He agreed to lead the Eternal Happiness Clan, even though he was in the dark.

Others are looking for Shi Zhongyu too. Shi Qing and Min Rou, his parents, are looking for him. So is the Snow Mountain Sect, whose leader's granddaughter was raped by Shi Zhongyu. They try their best to take Shi Potian... which somehow led to Shi Potian meeting Zhang San and Li Si, disciples of the Lords of Gallant Island. They became sworn brothers.

Anyhow, after Shi Potian met Zhang and Li, he continued to meet more people. He met Grandmother Shi who turned out to be the wife of Snow Mountain Sect Leader Bai Zizai. Note, the character in Shi Potian and in Grandmother Shi are different, and they are not related. Anyhoo, they go back to the Snow Mountain to find Bai Zizai, only to find a huge turmoil going on. Apparently some of the disciples are trying to overthrow the leader. Bai Bizai has been locked up in a cell a la Ren Woxing. Coincidentally, Xie Yanke showed up to wipe out Snow Mountain because Shi Zhongyu triked him into promising. But after learning the difference between Shi Potian and Shi Zhongyu, Xie Yanke agreed to take away Shi Zhongyu and teach him a lesson.

Alas, Shi Potian and Bai Zizai elected to go to the Gallant Island as leader of Eternal Happiness Clan and Snow Mountain, respectively. For the past 20 years, no one who has traveled to that Island has returned, so everyone thought it was a deadly trap, so no one wanted to go. But when Shi Potian and Bai Zizai arrived, they found out the truth: the invitation to Gallant Island was actually a strategy to recruit talents to demystify the secrets of Ode to Gallantry art. Everyone who went to the island in the past 20 years became obsessed with solving the puzzle, and did not want to leave the island, so that's why no one ever came back. No one paid any attention to Shi Potian because they were too busy trying to find the secret of the art. But their downfall is that they over-analyzed the issue. They were busy interpreting the words of the poem, but all they needed to do is look at the physical structure of the caligraphy, which were internal energy cultivation guides. Because Shi Potian was illiterate, he was the only one who exploited the real benefit of Ode to Gallantry art. When he had learned all the steps in the art, he suddenly could not control his movements, and he went into a deep unconscious mode. But in fact while he was unconscious, he was executing an all new set of moves which blended in all his previous martial arts learnings, including his newly acquired Ode to Gallantry art. Backed by unparalled internal energy in the era, Shi Potian subconsciously fought the 2 Lords of Gallant Island, and beat them without breaking a sweat. The 2 Lords could have stopped the fight at any time, but they wanted to witness the maximum power of Ode to Gallantry, so they fought until their last breath.

The 2 Lords were shocked the discover the real secret to unveiling OTG - illiteracy. They died soon after. Gallant Island collapsed, and the Lords arranged for everyone to leave safely. The last thing for Shi Potian to do is to find out his real identity. But the one whom he thought was his mother, killed herself and burried the secret forever. The novel ends with Shi Potian wondering: "Who am I?"
