After a rather memorable singing competition in May this year, where we discovered the tasty goodness of cheesecake, SPCNET Idol is back for the second season.

I would like to thank spcnet for kindly donating $20 to the winner of SPCNET Idol and for being so supportive of this competition. Despite his plea to remain anonymous, I am sure you will all recognise that netdriftr is again helping me host this competition, just like the days of Actress Battle Royale, only with less bit-… I mean, conflict.

Everyone who entered deserves a round of applause. The entries are amazing!

I am sure most of the contestants would appreciate constructive criticism, but please also recognise that we are mostly amateurs here and for a lot of people, it is their first time recording or mixing. Everyone really entered for fun- and some of them only did so to support me (cough blackmail) - so keep that in mind when you comment on the entries.

The following CRITERIA will be applied for voters:
Join date must be earlier than the 24th of November 2007
Post count must be greater than or equal to 15

ACD1NO1 - Fu Xi San Ha
For those who are familiar with the Chinese song 爱情转移, this is the original and the Cantonese version of that very same song. And for the uninitiated, this song is even awarded the prize of something along the lines of ... Globally most-listened-to song! Of course, I sang it not to challenge Eason Chan (I wouldn't even dream of it...!) but instead, this song kept ringing in my mind so I have no choice but to choose it.

ACD1NO2 - Beautiful Disaster
I first heard Beautiful Disaster live on American idol and fell in love with Kelly Clarkson's song. I apologise in advance for my bad rendition- obviously I cannot compare to Kelly Clarkson.

I guess I have more time this time so I'll be one of the first to express my opinions. Purely opinions, okay. So no hate-mails from the contestants or idolizers OK?

1) Voice is not bad. Starts out okay but as the song goes up to a faster pace it seems he has a problem with keeping up with the pace, it sounds like he's running out of breath--almost.

2) I never heard of this song before so I can't compare. I did look it up on youtube, not sure I like the song yet. But I think she has to practice this song more so she can express more feeling into the song (like she feels each word/line that she sings).

3) It maybe the distance in which she recorded her singing, but other than that. She has a nice voice. This happens to be one of my fave songs, for an amateur, its okay.

4) No! I had to listen to this twice or thrice. The way he pronounces the words is very hard on ears. Sorry. The way you pronounce the words and sing it sounds heavy and choppy. Uh, I'll refrain from making any other comments to keep the peace.

5) Please solo one voice, no remixing to hear more than one voice please.

6) Another one of my favorite songs. She's singing this song a bit too fast. Good try though.

Overall, #3 or 6. I'm not being bias because the ones I chose are some of my favorite songs. Just purely based on the voices alone. Other comments: No. 6 should check out Eva Cassidy's version of this song.

This is one of the tougher divisions I think, because there are quite a few good voices here. In terms of vocal quality, one of my favourite is #4 however he is kind of off tune and ends rather abruptly. Of the three female voices, I think #3 has the best voice tone, but all are quite easy to listen to. #5 I really admire because I think there is no way I will ever be able to harmonise with myself like that, let alone have the vocal range to sing more than one part. #1 is a bit weak on the high notes, but has a really lovely tone of voice.

haha, if i was really able to manipulate the votes, these polls would not look like what they are now

i don't want another tie because then things get messy, just like last minute entries coming in and skewing up the balance between divisions!
