I've been to Vegas once and I might go again next month. Last time I went was 3 years ago. I can tell you one thing: don't go for more than a weekend. Once you start running out of things to do, gambling seems like the only thing to do and your risk of losing just went up. But if you must gamble, you should play at Hard Rock Cafe at night (it's off the strip). When I was there, it was a young crowd and they dimmed the light so it seems like you're in a club.

Of course there's always those great shows. But be ready to spend a pretty penny. Cirque du Soleil, Blue-Man Group, and various magic shows are good. If I do go back, I'm gonna less time gambling and more time checking out some of the attractions the various casinos offer.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

There's always Red Rock Canyon nearby.

You need about 3 nights just to walk through all the casino hotels, and witness their FREE hourly shows, on the Strip.

Some of the hotel interiors require several hours to look at. For example when I went to Venetian, they had a special art gallery exhibition which took my breath (and time) away.

Every hotel has something different to offer. My favorite is Mandalay Bay. WYNN may be the most expensive, but IMO their building looks so bland on the outside.

Try the elevator at Luxor. I heard it travels diagonally

Don't forget to ride the world's tallest roller coaster on the Stratosphere.

If you go in the summer, stay in doors during the day. You will be deep fried if you go out in the 110F degree weather.

    Default $79 & up -- Las Vegas 4-Diamond Hotel incl. $25 Credit

    Hot hotel deal.

Winter and early spring are usually the most expensive times of the year to visit Las Vegas. If a sale comes up, it's usually for just a few scattered dates. However, the AAA 4-Diamond MGM Grand just announced a sale on 23 dates through April 30 for $79 that also includes:

A $25 activity credit (per stay) -- for use at select restaurants, or or at the shows "KÀ" by Cirque du Soleil or "Crazy Horse"

2 roundtrip passes for ground transfers from the airport

    2-for-1 spa pass

You can also upgrade to a Bungalow Suite with a marble bath for $25 more. Book by Jan. 26.

All other dates through April 30 include the extras and have been reduced to as low as $89.

I'm sorry but I find Cirque du Soleil to be boring. And would never ever in my life consider going. Even if it's a free show. I couldn't sit through that crap even if they told me I would win a free dinner afterwards.

I'm not really interested in shows like that. But I'd like to see live performances by singers like Celine. And site seeing is something I'd look forward to. I would love to stay at the Venetian but after looking at the price, I decided I didn't like it.

I also want to hit all the famous buffets. Buffet for every meal, I'm not like Pemb who wants to eat salads and 'healthy' food. I want to try all things that tastes good for me. I mean it's going to be a once in a lifetime thing, so screw diets. Yeah, I won't go back there ever again because my parents will deeply frown on it.

Anyone have pics? If you have pics of places to go to please post. And when I get back I'll post some pics too.

OMGosh! I see that we are truelly opposites! Do you not have any appreciation for the Arts?
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

You're finding a lot of good deals there Thor but not surprisingly, it's only valid on the weekdays. On weekend, the price shoot back up again.

    When are you going GuGu?

    Stick to the topic!

Anyways you live in Nevada, anywhere near Vegas?
And I guess we have to meet up in Vegas if I do go.
Is there anything to do besides clubbing, gambling, and going to these art stuff?

Sometime in March. I'm think of going for 4 nights cause I have to get back in time for work on the day after. So, I better not have a hangover from all the drinking. That would be baaaaaaaaaad!

Then what are you doing in a 'Las Vegas' thread?

I agree with RWX, I'm in favor of a Vegas SPCNET meeting. You all can see how sexy a Thai tranny is.

I'd be up, or down, for a SPCNET Gathering - Las Vegas style.

Would Prefer to go when it's not butt-freezing. Wonder how the weather is at the end of March (when Gugu is planning to go)...

LOL, Vegas style? Does that mean we'll have to reserve a blackjack or poker table just for SPCNETers? And I'm looking forward to Ogakira and Jen's wedding at one of those cheesy chapel weddings.

It should be warmer enough for sandles by the end of March. So I think it's a perfect time. And oh, we should all stay at the same hotel!

I don't think it's really cold in Vegas. Temperature: 51° F(11° C) right now, compared to my town temperature: -6° F(-21° C) ... It'd be paradise there for me.

I would like to see them do a drive through wedding.

Part of the SPCNET Gathering - Las Vegas style.

Just a thought: We should have a comparable representation of each gender,
