That was a literal translation, but as someone explained it previously (don't remember exactly who it was), it simply means 'a long time'. I guess it's like the way Americans say, "I told you a million times ..."
On the 'steady updates', I owe it partly to my editor/proof-reader Eliza Bennet. Sometimes I gave her only a few days to edit the entire chapter before I need to post the first part; sometimes we need several email exchanges to clarify some sentences, but she always strive to send it back to me in time. I am in the middle of Chapter 33, and I think I can maintain steady updates for another chapter. But as much as I like to maintain it forever, there will come a day when you will have to wait a few days between updates.
