Default Why did LHC stop using his hands as a sword after leaving FQY?

I've always wondered about that. Every hand to hand encounter after the one at HuaShan LHC would always run around pathetically when his sword was gone. If his fingers or hand can be used as a sword, even if it was 1/2 or 1/4 the power of dg9j with a sword, he would still be fine, yet he is constantly described as useless without his sword.

It is a matter of training. LHC chooses to specialise in sword and relies on the physical properties of the sword to maximise the effect of DG9J. If he gves the sword up for empty hands then he is giving away a significant range advantage and the inherent dangerousness of a naked blade.

Such was the genius of Dugu 9 swords that, when Linghu Chong placed in finger in a strange position, his enemy was unable to avoid the stroke. Unfortunately, Linghu Chong had no strength to back this move, and his finger was broken as a result.

    or

Linghu Chong thrust his outstretched fingers out randomly and at a stroke, blinded 15 men simultaneously.

He used his fingers as sword that one time when he was in a position very close to Tian Boguang (which rendered Tian's sabre rather useless) and he already lost his sword. I think he stopped using his fingers when he was out in real world situations where people tend to realise that their fingers are no match for metal blades.

Would LHC's Art of Essence Absorbing unintentionally suck his opponents internal energy if he starts using his fingers??

maybe because of that he deferred using his bare hands later on since he couldn't control the art.

after the battle at shaolin, when some sunmoon cult thugs tried to molest lingshan, he used his hand to strike an enemy after he threw his sword to kill another guy. his strike landed on the back of the enemy and caused him pain, but because LHC still had not learned how to move his chi, it did not cause serious injury. when he struck tian buogung, he was able to use his chi, even through it was shallow. LHC could hit his enemies using his finger as a sword but without (chi)force behind it, it would not be effective.
