    Default SPCNET Favorite Movie Demographics: (Everyone Participate)

    Hi guys, a little bit different this time. Instead of naming your favorite movie of all time and belonging to one movie group, you can choose three movies.

    It can be any movie, no matter what type, in any language.

    If you can, specify what country the movie is from as well, just in case there are two movies with same names but produced from different countries.

    Have fun, hopefully this will not be deleted.

    If anyone see a wrong year for a movie or wrong country of origin, please inform me.

    Updated as of post 53

    Rules:
    You need a minimum of 50 posts to qualify.
    No porn titles allowed.
    A maximum of three movies you can choose.

    Darn.

    OK, let me think:

    1. Ashes of Time (HK :: 1994)
    2. The Limey (USA :: 1999)
    3. About Love (Japan, China, and Taiwan :: 2005)
    忽见柳荫下两个小孩子在哀哀痛哭,瞧模样正是武敦儒、武修文兄弟。郭芙大声叫道:「喂,你们在干甚麽?」武 修文回头见是郭芙,哭道:「我们在哭,你不见麽?」

    Cool, I look forward to learning more about your fandom.

    Have you seen all of his works? I have seen all but Happy Together.

    Which one do you dislike the most?

    What did you think of his BMW short film?
    (FYI, it may be my favorite work from him, EVER -- short and sweet, full of his idiosyncrastic trademarks )

    I don't think it's bubblegum at all. I generally hate sugarcoated feel-good movies. I saw a genuine coming-of-age story in AWTR, and I LOVE genuine coming-of-age stories

    Should we start a new thread? I always wanted to start a new WKW thread...but figured I would be talking to myself so I didn't bother. I tried to start a "Fallen ANgels" thread a couple of months ago...and it failed miserably..miserably. I got like 1 reply.

    I have seen about 7 of the popular ones..missing As Tears Go By *tear*. Haven't seen BMW film...tell me where it is! (or better, tell me after my exams...)

    Maybe I'm just cruel, but I felt the plot so cliche...good girl/bad boy, leukemia *gags* (overplayed in every korean drama), father/son bad relationship, etc. etc. etc. And yes, I laughed at the ending.

    Well, most movies do conform to cliches in some ways... I'm OK with it as long as the delivery is good. And I thought the delivery in AWTR was very good. I just love the scene when they're productionizing the play in front of the real audience, and he realizes for the first time that he has something for her, and he says his true feeling instead of the prepared line... all of that felt smooth and fluid, without overacting and overstating, which a lot of American movies do (that is: over-acting and -stating), which is why I don't watch them much. BUT, I digress.

    PJ, you like this movie and the soundtrack too? At least someone agrees with me
    I was actually expecting people to label my choice as a "bubblegum" movie...

    Yes, I really like the soundtrack! I like the fact that it comprises of pop songs that're not the in-your-face type of contrived hit singles.

    To me, the Music is the single most important element in a movie. I often associate scenes with their music, and nobody uses music to drive the image better than Wong Kar-wai (Quentin Tarantino is good at that also, but not quite on par), which is one of the reasons why I love his movies.

    Can you specify which one? The very first one with Chow Yun Fat and Andy Lau becoming his student?
