    Default Washington DC

I just booked my flight to the "land where laws are made" today! I'll be there April 10-14 for the cherry blossoms festival. Any locals or frequent visitors of that city wanna point me to some great restaurants, bars, clubs, malls, etc. etc. etc.?

I'm staying in The District area... which my friends tell me is in the downtown. As we will not have a car, please offer suggestions pertaining to that area. Thanks!
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

Since you won't have a car I recomend using the metro system. They stop at all the major destinations. Since your going to DC I assume you would want to see the Capitol, White House, Monument, World War 2, Vietnam War, Lincoln Sitting, etc. All those can be found at the National Mall, or you can just get off at the Smithosonian on the orange line - DC Metro for your mapping needs.
The National Mall is pretty much just museums, so if your not into that type of stuff it will be very boring.

If you have an interest in animals the zoo is a good place to visit. Its a fun walk, to get there just hop on the red line towards Shady Groove and hop off at Woodland Park and walk a bit. If you like taking pictures of a variety of flowers, stop by the Botany mueseum. Its right next to the Capitol in Capitol hill.

Also visit the ultra small literally 1 block long Chinatown. You will be disappointed but there's a lot of resturants there if you want to grab something to eat. Most of the resturants aren't too expensive, around $30 for a meal. Legal Seafood is pretty big and PF Chang's. I prefer Fuddruckers since its cheap and I like to challenge people to eat 1lb burgers. All of those are in the Chinatown area.

Mall, there's no really huge mall in DC directly. Their out in the suburbs and since you won't have a car it would be inconvient to get to them. DC is not really a shopping paradise say like New York. But if you can get a ride or don't mind taking the metro, Pentago City and Tyson Corner are the biggest malls in the area.

Clubs, there's a few but the only one I"m familar with is the 9:30 which is more of a concert venue. I assume you want the dance clubs. I never been to any of these but people talk about Ultra Bar, Aqua, and Chloe. You can actually take the metro from DC to Falls Church and stop by Eden. Its a small asian shopping center, but theres lots of Viets and Chinese there and they will point you in the right direction for clubbing.

Thanks Azn Dude for all the excellent information! Especially the public transit info.. I'm sure that will be of great help. I'm gonna forward this to my friends and see what they want to checkout.

That's what I want to be when I grow old. I compared my travel plan to one of my friends and man, she got me beat! I still need to plan a few more trips just to catch up with her.

    That's good.
Traveling is one of the joys my life as well.

Be careful in the snow though.
My coworker lost his toe in Colorado,
    and it later got infected.
Now he's working from the hospital

On a sidenote, eat your heart out SPCNET members, I get to meet the infamous Suet Sueng on this trip. Ha!

I'm thinking CrazyT may have mistaken you for a cow or a heffer and is asking for a ride on your back. LOL!

Hey CrazyT, where are you headed next on your traveling agendas?

Hahah. You two are too funny!

My next travel destination is unknown... maybe Miami or Puerto Rico or Boston or Vegas. It's all up in the air.

If i'd known CrazyT was treating dinner and riding I would have went too.
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

That's right! So the next time I'm in a town near any SPCNET members, remember to take me out!

So, I just got over a cold so I now have the energy to write some thoughts about Washington DC.

A very clean [city, district, town, area] (just what the hell is DC?) with lots of nice parks and museums and historical places. The metrorail system is a great plus. You can practically get to anywhere you want. You're just a hop, skip, and short walk away from your destination. Clean, efficient, and fast. I wish we had public transportation like that here.

The food is good but kinda overpriced. $11 for a small appetizer? Rip-off! And the streets are confusing with its turnabouts and criss-crossings. But I don't see a need to drive much since there's so much to see, you should just walk. And walking is great thanks to the absolutely HUGE sidewalks. 6 ppl can walk side-by-side and it wouldn't be a problem. You can tell they design this city for tourists.

One thing I love about DC is that they have the best happy hour special I have ever seen! $20 all you can drink. If you're ever in DC, look up MCC XXIII. And if you're looking for a good sports bar, then Buffalo Billiards is the place to be.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.
