And gateway to being president. I think you should run, Jennie.

Business schools have really uneven male/female ratios though, so if you're single after college I would recommend taking the GMAT just because there are naturally more options. Although I'm kind of leaning towards majoring in English but taking the MCAT (not that I'll get in to med school), just because Jesse Spencer has given me the impression that doctors are really really hot.

You know the qn about whether you should choose based on interest or future financial earnings....I guess choose some where in between to be safe. I have a friend who graduated in Aeronautical Engineering, and now he's working in a country that is still learning how to produce cars.

Hell, a certificate in hair dressing would have made better sense!

I used to be in biology, but I hated the program. I switched to psychology, which is what I'll be doing for the future. I can't imagine being in any other field.

Oh, that sort of borders more on neuroscience or physiological psychology. I'm starting to get into that for my job.

I studied mainly developmental, social, and personality psychology.

Lunie, college is not necessarily for everyone. It appears that the academic settings might not be right for you. I understand that you have obligations to your family and you want to make them happy, but at the end of the day, you have to be happy. People make the mistake of settling for something easy, and ends up wasting money, time, and effort to obtain a piece of paper that bears little significant to them. Don’t settle for easy…settle for something that you will be interested in learning. What programs are your school specialized in? Do they have an aviation program? I know that you like to travel, so take a look into this program. There are many opportunities here. If it peeks your interest, then let me know. I do know a little bit about aviation to help you...

It's important to do the things you enjoy and are interested in, whether it's within university or outside.

I first picked a major that I did not like, because my parents felt that psychology was not a good enough science. Then I dropped the toher major and took psychology, and I've been doing great in it since.

I like school, but some people don't. It's important to figure out what you really want and go for that.

    I did engineering(electrical & electronics) and commerce(accounting and finance).
I didn't know what I wanted to do after high school so I chose a double degree.

I worked previously as a software engineer, then I got a real engineering job and still did/do some software stuff on the side.

Kids out of school don't know what they want to do in life. I wish the australian tertiary system was more like UK or US where you do a general wide scope undergrad degree like arts, sciences, health sciences etc and then go on to do higher specialised degree like engineering, law, medicine etc. That's better than starting 1 specialized degree and then changing courses down the track.

I'm a biochemistry major. At first I wanted to become a scientist...a biochemist....a researcher. It was always one of my childhood dreams to be able to mix and blow things up like those mad scientists in those movies, hehe. Well, lab sure took care of my dream for me. I've been doing organic chemistry research for a while with the most awesomest professor in the world, and I'm glad I did because now I realize that it's not for me. Only a year into it, and I'm already starting to become allergic to some of the reagents.

Then I thought about going into pharmacy (like everyone else around here) but I've never liked the idea.......it seems incredibly boring, and 4 years of memorizing drug after drug isn't exactly my idea of fun.

I'm really thinking about optometry right now, which is ironic because it's never really crossed my mind until very recently.

If I really really had my choice, I would either be in archaeology or art history right now. But then I'm also practical...archaeologists mostly survive on grants and funding, whereas art history would most likely lead to a teaching profession. I know I'm not a great teacher so I would never want to make any future students suffer.

But then again, if the other thread is true and that the world will be facing incredible catastrophes in 4 years, then I really shouldn't be worrying so much. Just continuing to be a bum sounds just fine.
