FF7 set the tone for later RPGs, wrt OTT combat effects. The intro movie has a nice representation of The Proud Dragon Repents though - right hand draws a circle, then draws back slightly before pushing out and unleashing its force. The same move is also seen when Hong Qigong teaches Guo Jing.

AFAIK it's supposed to be the PS game with by far the most voice acting in, and from what I've seen, its voice acting is better than most modern games. Heck, its acting is better than the new Star Wars trilogy too.

The decision to make the female characters dress like skanks from PS fighter games is a shame.

I also don't like how GJ character is a skinny metrosexual. He should look like a stocky farmer boy.

Other than that, it's pretty cool. Lots of exploding rocks!

Oh, I played this before! Only I'm illiterate, so I ended up running around lost a much of the time. As a result of all the random fights, Guo Jing got really strong early on, and beat the snot out of poor old Huang Yao Shi the first time they met. Yeah.
