The sun is shining here today and it's relatively warm at 12C. It's supposed to freeze again tonight so I'll take my inspiration from the forecast.

    Cold, frozen wasteland
I wait here for summer's warmth

Wow, john-e, 12C doesn't sound warm to me, haha. Thanks to you, I'll also take my inspiration from the weather.

    Scorching hot heat wave
    Raging fire in my neighbor

    Torturously hot!
Had to sleep with no clothes on
    Scratching my booty
Due to several complaints, I will stop using the terms "Babe" and "Baby" in reference to our female counterpart. They will now be replaced with "B*tch."

    Default Poem - Golden Loop...

Ok, I was feeling kinda awkward, and uh, embarrassed ....however I'll still post this long piece of poem away.... no throwing of tomatoes, please Uh, somewhere seem abit off. If you think somewhere could be improved or get amended, feel free to advise. Enjoy!

    This golden loop….

It comes in the shape of a circle, and ideally, is made of gold.
This circle refers to infinity, as the gold makes it glow
What does this tiny loop, made of gold, mean to you?
Why do couples, of westernized marriages, do exchange of it in a
    ceremony?
Some of us just went through the ceremony, enjoyed and forget all about
    it.
I ponder for awhile and made up this “little golden loop” concept of my
    own …

“Deep down within us, we are all looking for our missing piece of
    puzzle – The significant one.
With this special one, we go through this, seemly, a hassle to make an
    agreement – The Promise.
Having that all done, the golden loop comes into place and play its
role. – The Ring, for exchange.
When the rings are worn on that rightful finger, the gesture of ring
exchange is done; the promise made with that significant one is sealed.
The Golden Loop glows as the start is brand-new.”

Bear in heart, not in mind, the definition of this golden loop, which
    it rightfully means:

“Life runs in a cycle – a circle, also known as a loop.
When one found his/her significance other,
he/she found his/her other half of the circle.
So we called our spouse as our other half.
No more two lives but it becomes one to fulfill.

This loop is round, just like the ring, it runs in infinity.
“Till death do us part” has the similar meaning.
Living as one, through the length of time, the relationship is
challenged by all kinds of trial.
The question lies, “Can your golden loop withstand the volcanic heat
and shaky grounds through the trials of life as one?”
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

You shouldn't feel embarassed Cedric. Your poem is very nice. It reminds me of one of my all-time favourites. Bonus points to anyone who knows who wrote it and where it comes from.

    Love

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
    It always protects, always trusts,
    always hopes, always perseveres.
    Love never fails.

john-e, that's my all-time fav quote!! So of course I know where it comes from: 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

    My own love haiku:

    Love stealthily came
Shine a light in deep abyss
    Eroding old wound

    Destiny has it
I will pluck the stars for you
    Perpetual bliss

    Fate, maybe one day
Our paths will cross each other
    If fate let us be

Thank you, John. I trully appreciate your encouragement for me. I think its too long for a poem, but it's everything I had in mind to share . My concept about this special ring.

Everytime, I very much look forward to your poems and haikus, too. Or any writings you have, do share.

I have seen this part, you've posted, in bible too. My cousin actually poke fun of the first line. She goes "O, Love is patient, love is kind. Love is slowly losing my mind."

    Haiku

Let your love one be happy

Lol, I like your cousin's version.

Thanks back at you for your encouragement. I used to write alot of poetry, but it has been misplaced over the years. This thread is alot of fun and I enjoy everyone's contributions.

Some of the best poems are quite long. My favourite epic poem is The Devil and Billy Markham by Shel Silverstein. Here's a link - warning, explicit language.

She's quite a menace, not so much of a poet. I think I've got her influence of enjoy making a parody version out of something intense.

I love this part of the forum too. I think a piece of poetry or writing (be it haiku or a passage) expresses the depth of someone. It's totally enjoyable to be able to meet other likeminds. It's also good to receive comments and correction if I could do better in any part of my writing or poems.

I'll be back to read the whole poem. I've just started reading the first few lines. I think this writer is very descriptive and expressive, he knows how to play around with words. I like that.

    Grey clouds covered sky
    Missing that someone special
    My dear grandfather

    If I have a choice
I want to be there for you
    Side-by-side, we'll fight

    If I have a choice
You won't deal with this alone
    I will stand by you

    This I promise you
If you would reach out to me
    I will support you

**Looking forward to pieces of haikus or poems from Bella, Han, Jill and John...and others too, of course

    Essence of Time

Roaring thunders furiously striking the sky
    Mother Nature cries in sorrow
    Shattered heart knows no tomorrow

    The truth of one heart
Is realized in a moment of betrayal
Trust destroyed in the face of broken promises

Embracing the lows with humility and dignity
    Flowing through life in tranquility
As time passed, pains faded in memory

The bright gleams of dancing stars
The gentle breezes caressing the skins
Rejuvenating the blood flows from within

    Sweet melodies nurturing the souls
    Enthralling purity of winter snows
    Enslaving weeping sorrows

The voices of angels, embedded deep inside
Northern lights, sensuously gliding across open skies
Beaming upon the wandering lost souls

    The beacons of salvation
    Languages are lost in translations
Where the heart lies, feelings are never forgotten

    Default Secret JFK files..?

Wow, Bella, this is trully a good and neat piece with effort put in. Keep them coming, girl! Well done!

Agony of the Wabby -- Chasing Penguins

I am an amateur enthusiast, or an enthusiastic amateur.
I dreamt as a child of being an animation legend, bringing
the world together with my heart-warming tales of wonder.

Instead, I work in the cold and heartless world of law and order,
each day becoming closer and closer to Dickens's Scrooge.
This job that I'm in, not only drain me of my time, it eats up the
child in me and force me to face insane world of reality.

The only thing that keeps me from being visited by three poignant
but well meaning spirits is that little remaining flame that still flickers within me,
that says "Wasn't the 1980's Astroboy series a bittersweet triumph in animation",
"Remember The Maxx, and his sometimes disturbing adventures in the Outback?"
and not to forget that "Merrie Melodies that makes me laugh so hard that
I still laugh in the middle of the night while in my dreams".

Now I have, this faintly flickering spark that still burn inside me
and left with little motivation to stay focus and concentrated
to achieve this animation dream and finally realise my ambition
of becoming an animation legend, not for the name-sake
but rather for the respect for arts and educate the next generation
through my pieces of artworks with thoughts-provoking messages.

How life play people out sometimes.
Pens down with a sighing thought.

    Default German poem, with translation

This poem gives a mellow and relaxing feeling...enjoy!

    Frühlingsglaube

    Die linden Lüfte sind erwacht,
    Sie säuseln und wehen
    Tag und Nacht,
    Sie schaffen an allen Enden.
O frischer Duft, o neuer Klang!
Nun, armes Herze, sei nicht bang!
Nun muss sich alles, alles wenden.

    Die Welt wird schöner
    mit jedem Tag,
    Man weiß nicht,
    was noch werden mag,
    Das Blühen will nicht enden.
Es blüht das fernste, tiefste Tal:
Nun, armes Herz, vergiss der Qual!
Nun muss sich alles, alles wenden.

    Faith in Spring

    The gentle winds are awakened,
    They murmur and waft
    day and night,
    They create in every corner.
Oh fresh scent, oh new sound!
Now, poor dear [heart], fear not!
    Now everything, everything must change.

    The world becomes more beautiful
    with each day,
    One does not know
    what may yet happen,
The blooming doesn't want to end.
    The farthest, deepest valley blooms:
Now, poor dear, forget the pain!
    Now everything, everything must change.

    Default Haiku & Poems

    Foolish I must be
    Know none about you
    Yet fall hopelessly

    Stay strong I must be
    Wash away these memories
    And the stupid thing

"You've got mail!" My eyes hunted for your name in the long list.
The widest grin appear in my face as I read your name in the list.
Wondering if you'd be there, just like me sitting before this screen

My heart rejoices as a quick response from you had given me the answer.
But the reply in your response was something that I have least expected.
Whatever be it, I accepted it and give you my wholehearted best wishes.
To know that you are happy and loved, is what I would hope you to be.

    --Enjoy!

Default A Willing Victim Letting Himself Caught

Is this considered a secret JFK file too?

This, has been my favourite part of "reader's digest". Something I enjoyed reading and learning from. Strategies or words of wisdom from the wise old Jiang Ziya - Old Master Jiang. Ladies & Gentlemen, allow me to share this....

"Taigong Diaoyu, Yuanzhe Shanggou" is a famous Chinese idiom about a willing victim letting himself be caught. The idiom comes from the following story.

Jiang Ziya lived near the Weishui River about 3,000 years ago. The area was the feudal estate of Count Ji Chang. Jiang Ziya knew Ji Chang was very ambitious so he hoped to get Ji's attention.

He often went fishing at the Weishui River, but he would fish in an unusual way. He hung a straight fishhook, without bait, three feet above the water. He often said to himself, "Fish, if you don't want to live any more, come and swallow the hook yourself."

Soon his strange way of fishing was reported to Ji Chang. Ji sent a soldier to fetch him. Jiang saw the soldier coming, but ignored him. Jiang just went on with his fishing, and was saying to himself, "Fishing, fishing, no fish has been hooked. A shrimp is up to mischief." The soldier reported this back to Ji Chang, who became more interested in Jiang.

Ji sent an official to invite Jiang this time. But Jiang again ignored the invitation. He just carried on fishing, and was saying, "Fishing, fishing, the big fish has not been hooked. A small one is up to mischief."

Then Ji Chang realized Jiang may be a great talent so he went to invite Jiang himself and brought many generous gifts with him. Jiang saw his sincere desire so decided to work for him.

Jiang helped Ji Chang and his son turn over the Shang Dynasty and establish the Zhou Dynasty. Jiang was given the title of Taigong so people called him Jiang Taigong.
In this idiom, Diaoyu means "fishing," Yuanzhe means "a person willing to" and Shanggou means get hooked. Today, people use this old idiom to describe someone who willingly falls in a trap or does something regardless of the result. For example, if someone sells something at a price of 10 times its real value, and he does not care if it can be sold, his situation could be described with this idiom.

There's also the german version of the above saying and some other famous chinese quotes that I have came across. I find them interesting.

It's a good start, Bunnie. Keep it up! I've screwed up alot when I first started, and you did better than me.

    All driven by life
    How sad and miserable
    Just to pay off bills

    Poems (Some sort of)

Sometimes there's a time you must say goodbye
Though it hurts you must learn to try
I know I have got to let you go
But I know anywhere you go
    You will never be far
'Cause like the light of a bright star
You will keep shining in my life
    You are gonna be right

    Here in my heart
That is where you will be
    You will be with me
    Here in my heart
No distance can keep us apart

No more tears falling from these eyes
'Cause when love is true it never dies
    It says alive forever
Time can't take away what we have
I will remember our time together
You might think our time is through
But I will still have you

    Default Remember Cedric

Remember Cedric Diggory. The words rang in his ears
As Harry, leaving Hogwarts far behind,
Recalled the lifted goblets and Cho’s swift but silent tears,
Replayed those final moments in his mind.

I had to be so noble, he reflected bitterly.
If only I had grabbed the Cup alone,
He would have been all right; Lord Voldemort was after
    me.
Lord Voldemort! It chilled him to the bone.

The evil eyes, the pallid face, the frigid, mirthless laugh,
The sudden flash of sickly emerald light
From Pettigrew, who cruelly killed on Voldemort’s behalf.
If he had just let Wormtail die that night!

His mercy led him to that awful moment when he knelt,
Transfixed by horror, paralyzed by pain,
As Cedric was extinguished. Every fiber of him felt
A hollow nausea he could not explain.

He’d seethed against poor Cedric, who was decent, who was good,
Who maybe was too high-minded to know
How Harry had resented him. Would he have understood
The raging beast that flared because of Cho?

Had Cedric been a braggart, had he strutted with a smirk,
Had he belittled blithely all year long,
Would guilt-encrusted Harry still have felt like such a jerk?
His envy, so acidic, had been wrong.

Whenever Harry thought about the gracious Hufflepuff,
He pictured Cedric zooming through the air
To snatch the Snitch spectacularly, only to rebuff
Applause because he found the win unfair.

    Uncompromising principles. A self-effacing smile.
It dawned on Harry that he’d rarely met
A student whose accomplishments were so untinged by guile.
Remember Cedric. How could he forget?
What can I say? I'm still standing! No weapon against me shall prosper! I am more than a conqueror!!!

I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?
