Default Which female Character is the strongest in Jinyong?

Mostly people discuss about the male characters but not the female and there are strong one like HR, XLN, LY, and many others but who is truly strongest.

Yes, Liu Yan, sister of Five Thousand Arms, One Hundred Thousand Heads Rattlesnake Liu An, is the strongest.

I have idea who LY is.

I think Tianshan TongLao is the strongest female character. She had an incredible amount of talent too since she started learning that "I reign supreme in 8 directions" martial art at age 7 or so, which is one of the best Xiao Yao martial arts.

Even the lesser Xiao Yao martial arts found at her palace would cause decent fighters like the loudmouthed Bao to fire deviate. So to be able to learn such a high martial art at age 7 without fire deviating, she was a true prodigy. And we did not see her at her apotheosis either since her martial sister Li QuShui ambushed her before she reached full power.

Let me take a guess, do you mean LCY a.k.a. Lin Chaoying a.k.a. Lam Chiu Ying?

Tianshan Tonglao is ridiculous. And Li Qiushui is equally ridiculous given that TSTL hadn't managed to kill her yet even though they had been feuding for ages.
    Reverend Rongku prepared himself.

Suddenly, he toss his hands and screamed: "I am not human! I am an animal!"

The crowd startled at such a bizarre beginning to the story.

No mention of Ah Ching yet? Didn't she pull off some really crazy stuff in her short story?

Good point! She had godlike speed and technique, and all her martial arts were self-taught. Yeah now that you reminded me I believe her exploits would make her the strongest female in the JY universe. The way she disarmed those 2000 soldiers as she moved along to her objective without even breaking a sweat was simply incredible

Actually, there's no proof that Ah Qing's martial arts were self taught. She wasn't being honest for most of the story so we don't really know her true background.

j/k, strongest = HR. tianshan tong lao may be strong martial art wise, but HR's scheme can easier defeat her

Not "strongest" in the most traditional sense... but I reckon Madam Ma is pretty impressive.
if she had access to more formidable martial artists, as compared to a bunch of old fogeys from the beggar clan, she might have ruled the world!

Could she have tempted Xu Zhu or Duan Yu?

I find it funny why no one has made mentioned of Miejue Priestess.

The name itself sounds menacing enough.

And it was commented that less than 10 people alive could handle 3 palms from Miejue in the then pugilistic world.

In terms of swordplay, she was regarded to be bested only by Zhang San Feng of Wu Dang.

She was also the de facto leader of the 6 major sects when they attacked the Ming Sect.

Now that is a resume to be damn proud of, isn't it ?

Thats a strong lady for ya !!

Oh, and what of Guo Xiang? Emei's founder?

The novel does not made much mention about Guo Xiang's martial arts prowess, but she must have gained a very impressive level to have founded Emei.

By the way, if you are asking about the strongest female character,

Shouldnt that title be bestowed to Dongfang Bubai ?

I don't recall this in the novel. It would be blatantly false, since there are no less than 10 living martial artists in the story who are BETTER than she:

    1. ZWJ
    2. Z3F
    3. Xuanming elder #1
    4. Xuanming elder #2
    5. Shaolin Divine Monk #1
    6. Shaolin Divine Monk #1
    7. Shaolin Divine Monk #1
    8. Hao Mi
    9. Bu Tai
    10. Cheng Kun
    11. Fang Dongbai
    12. Ah Er
    13. Ah San
    14. Kongwen

Not to mention there are also plenty of fighters whom she would likely draw with (e.g. the Ming cult heralds/guardians, the top two Wudang disciples etc.), and even lesser fighters whom she would ultimately beat would almost certainly last longer than 3 palms (e.g. Yin Yewang).

No she was not - it was explicitly said that Kongzhi of Shaolin was. Xianyu Tong of the Hua sect was the chief strategist.

DFBB would get worked by TSTL and LQS.

Pretty much any character depicted not named Sweeps, SPT, Ah Qing, and XZ would likely get worked by TSTL or LQS. You would probably have to resort to speculation about unseen characters like DGQB, HS, and the Tang Dynasty era creator of XMSZ, because it's conceivable that they're on the similar, lower, or higher level.

But if we're including Ah Qing, she wins. She's quite likely the strongest martial artist in the entire canonology.
