    Default Indian classical music

In the mid-1960s, Beatles guitarist George Harrison became fascinated with the traditional Indian musical instrument known as the sitar, and developed a broader interest in Indian music, culture, and spiritual beliefs. As a consequence of Harrison's interest, many people outside of India became aware of and interested in the country's music for the first time. The Beatles incorporated a number of Indian instruments and themes into their music from 1966 onward, particularly on the compositions of Harrison.

I've followed Harrison's lead and bought a Ravi Shankar album. I must admit, although I doubt I'd ever be nearly as into it as Harrison was, it's good music. Indian music has a unique soothing quality to it. Little wonder it's considered the ideal music for meditation.

I agree with the mediation part. For that I like Indian and Arabic classical music, although I rarely listen to them.
