I think you're being somewhat unfair to Ron Ng (and Lang Huet).
Given his very limited screen time and the aloofness of Lang Huet, he does remarkably well. Sammul Chan's job was a lot easier.
Lang Huet doesn't have much of a story (and was unfortunate enough to get hooked up with the most annoying female character I've seen since XLN ) - but he IMHO made his presence felt. I quite appreciated all those brief but important displays of loyalty and determination.
Lang Huet was by no means boring. (At least as far as I'm concerned...;-))

i'm talking about the character, not about Ron. IF ron did a good job as lang huet, he should be nominated for best actor or best supporting, since he had been relegated to supporting actor to kenneth and ray in this show, which is not his fault, but tvb's decision. the thing is I don't understand how LANG HUET can be a "favourite character", when people don't even get to see him on screen enough to like him, or understand enough about his background to like him. I don't like or dislike lang huet, just that ron, has sooo little screen time, and lang huet is more of a "silent and aloof" type, rather than tit sau/mo qing/zhui ming, that you tend not to notice the character in the series. if you think about it, shouldn't kenneth's character be more of a "my favourite character type", since everyone likes the character. i'm not against ron, since he used to be my favourite of them all in the days of Triumph, nowadays i do like ray and sammul more, but i still bash ray's mo qing.

Well, Lang Huet is cool, you can't deny that.
And he's given just enough background and story to make me wonder and pique my interest.
I liked the character.
Or maybe it's just me and the fact that I like silent, aloof types...:-)

Though Tit Sau is still my fave in this series.

I finished watching the series, finally.

I don't really like the ending though. Too rushed.

Kind of like evenly paced series, which this is clearly not.

I like the series up to about ep. 14- then things got boring, rushed, you named it.

after watching this series, I have to agree with some other about Chi Yi. She really a cold-blood. I also like the ending, because she got what she deserved. If she died too fast, it wouldn' do any justice, so it good she is dying slowly with the poison she used. Chi Yi is a spy that not likeable, but at the time, i feel sorry for her because she did not have a chance to experience a normal life like many others and grow up with the bad guy who does not teach her moral. It is not all her fault to commit all those crimes, but she is part of the crime so it is good that she serves her sin at the end.

I've never grown fond of Chi Yin but I must admit she's an interesting character.
And the whole thing with her being a bit like Mou Ching's darker reflection was quite intriguing.

The show was entertaining for me, but still not statisfying for me. I feel like the show should of been stretch longer, also the love stories were not even interesting, accept for chi yan and Mo ching.

I am very confused at Chi Yan's character myself, it wasn't really well written, humm this had potential to be really good, but with the bad actress and all I didn't know what to think lol.

After finishing the serie I still don't know how I feel about it. The storyline went from pretty good to plain boring and then rushed to the ending. Some of the actors were good and some were just incredibly terrible.

Raymond Lam as Heartless: First of all, I never liked Raymond. I thought he was annoying and overrated. However, after watching this serie I grew rather fond of him THROUGH HIS CHARACTER. (Maybe because he was very well dressed for a cripple with a very intelligent mind, hehehe) I found Heartless to be pretty pitiful considering the fact that he was very intelligent but only to be tricked over and over and over again by Chi Yin. However, given Heartess' circumstances and his inability to feel emotions in the beginning but only to feel love and kindess through her, I understood why he was so attached to her and even loved her with all of his heart. So I give him a B+

Kenneth Ma as IRON FIST: Hmm, what can I say, his character was the easiest to portray. The upright honorable constable is never too hard to play, however, I liked his passion and his charm. I like the fact that he always has that boyish smile. I think this may be his best role yet. I give him also an A-/B+

Wallace ?? as CHASER: He's probably my favorite. He's so charming and adorable as the role of the playboy chaser. I'm glad in the end he didnt end up with anyone because that would kill his image as a free spirited loverboy. I love the part where he was talking to himself and practicing his line on what to say to Chaser's sister: "I promise you that out of all of my many wives, I will always put you first. Please don't hate me. It's my Mom's fault. She made me this handsome." Hhahahaha!!! He totally deserves an A.

Ron Ng as COLDBLOODED: So we have one guy who's heartless and another who is coldblooded. Wow. From all of the other series about the four constables, I never found his characte to be of any use besides just standing there and kill people. I never liked Ron, so perhaps his lack of energy and limited screen time worked out well for me. I give him a C since his character didnt do much and didnt require a lot of acting.

Song chi Yin: I Dont know the actress' name, but I must admit that she is very pretty. Her acting skill however remains a mystery. Even to the end of the serie I still dont know her actual motive and reason for doing anything. I hate the pathetic background story TVB gave in order to explain why she was evil. Just make her completely evil without some bs storyline! When she finally realized what she's been doing was bad nearly knocked me out of my chair. The stupidity of it all! How can you witness so many terrible things, kill so many people, lie to your lover over and over and over again and NOT feel a damn thing only to wake up one day and suddenly feel guilty??? I give her character a D.

The rest of the cast was ok. I didnt like the Uncle, the queen, the king, the evil characters or Chaser's 3 useless parents.

I guess over all, I only liked the ending for its complete awesomeness for leaving none of the guys with thieir girls only to battle thousands of soldiers to protect their king. I love Heartless last line: "FIGHT WELL BROTHERS. SEE YOU IN THE NEXT LIFETIME." And then HI-YAH!! they all jumped up in the air (even the crippled Heartless jumped) like they just don't care and BAM! the serie ended. That's all. I love that part and that line and that's all. Good night folks.

i also love that scenes of Jui ming as well, he just so cute and funny there.

and i agree with you about chi yi, she did so many bad things and didn't realize but when she dreams about it n woke to realize it, just odd.

I watched at Crunchyroll, it ends where Chio Kut (the uncle) is riding a boat and saying something like "he can take a long vacation because the four constables will take care the office for him" Then it comes some background fighting, and say that the Jin overthrow the song dynasty. that is how it ends in the version that i watched at crunchyroll.

Ray - I think he was only one with emotional depth to play Heartless out of the four. OT - I don't think I have seen an ancient series where Raymond gets the girl at the end except Eternal Happiness.
