It's unfortunate none of the lead actresses are very attractive in this series...

Selina was just avg...... but the rest of the cast of girls were . I guess hiring all 4 top tvb actors was a strain on the budget so they use 2nd rated- never rated actresses
Just catching up right now....Episode 17, woah! Hell has NO FURY like Tit Sau's wrath. When he came charging in and attacking, he totally struck fear in everyone.
I felt sorry for Tit Sau's sister, though. Those dirty scoundrels deserved getting beaten to a pulp.

I've just finished watching episode 8. I'm at the part where the female turns into a zombie.
Have you learned to love one another?
I finished watching the whole thing over the weekend.
Gotta say I quite like the ending, although it was pretty surprising.
I also like the four together as a group rather than having a "favourite" constable.
Ron Ng and Kate Tsui look too "modern" for an ancient series. Sammul is funny in his role and Raymond Lam is dead-on in his. He has zero chemistry with Kate though (no surprise there).

I never did figure out how Lang Huet was allowed to join as San Bo. What is the story about his jade medallion and his identity that let him join?

I'm glad to find another person that quite like the ending. You are the first actually . All the other opinion I've heard are dissatisfaction. I also quite like the ending (other than the fate of Siu Dou). That ending pose is nice. Some people see doom in the ending, but, I see hope.

Doom or hope, I like the ending, too...

I liked the ending as well. For once it wasn't as rushed as some other TVB endings I've seen. Each character's ending was well fleshed out; that's nice for a change!

I was hoping that after seeing several series with Kate Tsui, I'd actually grow to like her, but her acting just disappoints me so much! She doesn't appear to be comfortable in front of the camera at all! Maybe it's her super-stick-figure form that makes her look stiff and rigid, but I can't see how she can evoke any emotion and cause the audience to feel ANYTHING AT ALL. Well, maybe anger and fed up with the terrible acting skills she has. She and Charmaine Sheh must be long lost sisters or cousins, they both irk me so much when they appear onscreen. Kate Tsui's face is problematic for me too. I know she can't do anything about it, but I just don't think she's made for Wuxia or period dramas at all. Face structure is too thin and bland...just like her acting skills---2Dimensional.
I'd sure love to ban her from acting.
Now, I maybe unfair towards her, but seriously, after watching several series, my opinion of her has not changed at all. Bias? No. I really did hope she'd somehow convince me, but sadly no. I mean I used to dislike Myolie Wu and found her annoying, but in some series she doesn't seem too bad with her acting. Well, Myolie is still not there yet. Anyway, I don't like Kate Tsui and I don't like Casper Chan. Tian ah! Are there any young actress with good acting left in TVB?
Hmm...The ending was okay.

I like the ending too, It's good that three of the main constables didn't end up with their girls.
''It is not so important to know everything as to appreciate what we learn.''
Agree! I figured it is open ended so that there is hope there will be a part II . So perhaps Kenneth and Selina can get married in part II. The other 3 will have new love intesests.
I have the graphic novel version of "The Four Constables" and in it Mo Ching has a tragic love story that is sort of similar to the series. .
I'm up to Episode 15 (bought the DVD set) and I'm enjoying this quite a lot. The four constables seem to be casted well (the one with the weakest acting talent in my opinion, Ron Ng, has the character which needs the least expression) and their chemistry works well (Ron's lack of chemistry again fits his character). I was also surprised at how pretty Kate Tsui looks in this series - I didn't find her attractive at all in Moonlight Resonance, but somehow here she has a very likeable quality about her. It was also great to see the evergreen TVB elders generation continuing to do a great job (I always found Lok Ying Kwan overrated, but Lau Kong, Law Lok Lam and Gordon Liu never fail to entertain) but was sad to see how they've aged. Yee Yeung's face seems to have totally sagged, and his eyebags are even bigger than his eyes. Lei Hoi Sang (Flying Tiger sect leader) also looked a bit ill, with one eye bigger than the other (maybe it was an infection of one eye or something), while Lau Kong looks like he has an inch of make-up applied on his face, although Gordon Liu, for some reason, looks evergreen. Looking forward to finish the series.
A question - which Emperor was Yee Yeung supposed to be? Hui Zhong of the Water Margin fame?
