Default Would any wulin man choose the Qwai Fa Bo Deen if other elite skills were available?

Qwai Fa Bo Deen was the most powerful martial art in the world of SMILING PROUD WANDERER, and those with wulin-ruling ambitions coveted it. In SPW, however, many of the elite skills of previous eras, such as the original and complete Bak Ming Divine Art from DGSD, the 9 Yum Jen Ging, 9 Yeung Jen Ging, and Keen Kwun Dai Loi Yee from the CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY, the skills of the Greats, etc., were extinct. If these skills were also available during the time of SPW, would any ambitious wulin man still choose the Qwai Fa Bo Deen over them...in light of the tremendous sacrifice required to practice the Qwai Fa Bo Deen?

Greedy users might still pick Sunflower because it promises more power in the short term.

If there was a life-or-death duel coming up in one week, or an immediate power boost required for an event in which failure is even worse than losing your manhood, KHBD would be the best choice. Otherwise, screw that.

It was said that KHBD is one of those martial arts where if you've peeked at it, it'll continue to gnaw at your mind tempting you to practice it.

I think it's certainly likely that even a possessor of another elite art would try to learn QHBD. The whole pt of QHBD is that the lure of its power was almost irresistible to any martial artist. Ren Woxing only avoided the temptation because he wouldn't even look at QHBD.

If the guy had always *wanted* to be a woman, this would be his perfect excuse...

But otherwise, nah...no reason at all.

Maybe this would work: learn Bak Ming Divine Art first, build your inner power to high levels with 9 Yum or 9 Yeung, *then* absorb all the power from somebody who has already trained in the Qwai Fa Bo Deen. Get the benefits without the cost.

Something I've been wondering...does the QFBD actually change a man into a woman like appearance-wise almost completely? I'm just curious because some XAJH adaptations has a woman portraying DFBB and I'm just wondering if that's right or does the practioner just lose all facial hair, voice changes, and starts wearing feminine color clothes...just more drag-queenish?

See, I don't think anyone "chooses" to learn QHBD. It's like an irresistible drug for martial artists. One look at the manual and the reader is bound to learn it.

It's similar to the martial arts in Ode to Gallantry. None of the Wulin experts could walk away after looking at the inscriptions on the wall.

That won't work. The internal energy would be converted to BMSG so there's no speed boost.

So Bak Ming Divine Art necessarily performs a "system reboot" on all other inner power types that enter its stream?

There are ups and downs to that particular design feature...

I was thinking what if its Kuihua Baodian on the island instead of the Ode to Gallantry arts. Will the Wulin people continue staying on the island after knowing the prerequisites of learning KHBD?

In the case of Shi Potian, will he be able to understand the prerequisites of mastering KHBD as his illiterate?!

The mind boggles as to what Chinese character could possibly visually portray the first step of the Sunflower Manual.

More like an implicit cast, where Beiming Shengong is the supertype of all martial arts, and each MA it absorbs gets boxed into the supertype.

There are ups and downs to that particular design feature...
It is necessary to convert the different types of energies into harmonized streams of energies; otherwise the user might die on the spot due to incompatible energy types existing in the body (esp. when adding an oddball like the Sunflower Manuscript).

Especially with something like KHBD. The internal energy method can be practiced without the "first step". You just fire deviate and die trying to use it.

    I was being snarky

In any case, the point is that to utilize KHBD for the speed without the "first step" is to kill yourself.

Which is really just another nail in the Qwai Fa Bo Deen's coffin as being a desirable martial art to learn if other elite skills are available. Give me the CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY's "9"- series super martial arts any day...
