TVB new period comedy series Wong Lo Fu Snatches His Bride <王老虎搶親> held its costume fitting session yesterday, attended by cast members including Chin Ka Lok (錢嘉樂), Louisa So (蘇玉華), Sammul Chan (陳鍵鋒), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Mimi Chu (朱咪咪), Gigi Wong (黃淑儀) and KK Cheung (張國強).

During the event, Ka Lok was blindfolded and asked to identify Louisa from the crowd and Mimi created a lot of laughter by standing in front of him and pushing out her chest. When he accidentally touched her, he was so shocked that he quickly turned away.

Louisa was then asked to have a mock fight with Ka Lok, but she almost kicked him in the groin, making him call out and warn her to be more careful. Asked later if he was okay, he smiled that she had just kicked him in the thigh.

It has been two years since Ka Lok has appeared in a series and when asked how he felt about this character being written especially for him as the lead role, he laughed that he was a lead player way back in 1999 in A Matter Of Business <千里姻缘兜错圈> opposite Ada Choi (蔡少芬).

Louisa laughed that Ka Lok's character is a mindless soul who can only deal with matters through violence, so it is very suited to Ka Lok to play.

Sammul revealed that his character, Chow Man Bun (周文賓) becomes the subject of a fantasy after Ka Lok's character has taken an aphrodisiac, so Sammul will have to dress as a woman to film this scene. He smiled that as well as having to play a woman, there is also a bathing scene, so he will be showing off his body as well.

To prepare for her part, Nancy said that she will be re-watching some old films of the same genre, but she is worried about filming comedies as she is quite poor at holding back her giggles.

There's very rare to have a sole lead in a series nowadays. It's quite common for sharing leads in TVB series.

Plus, Sammul being a non-TVB contract artist brings him some disadvantages.

Yesterday Sammul Chan attended the costume fitting for the new series “Wong Lo Fu Snatches his Bride”, however this costume fitting involved him dressing up as a woman. During the event he felt very uneasy and often had reporters showing him how to pose. Sammul explained “As it’s the first time I have ever dressed up as a woman, I needed guidance on how to pose elegant with my hands. I had been watching Cantonese opera movies that starred Yam Kim Fai and Pat Suet Sin, constantly trying to learn their hand gestures and face expressions. But it is very difficult.

He states that he is supposed to give off a beautiful girl image. In the series Chin Ka Lok is instantly attracted to his appearance that he snatches him home. Sammul said that people think his woman make-over looked a lot like Lee San San. But before he applied the make-up he thought he would look like Elanne Kong, as they both have big eyes and a skinny face.
(Asked why he had to disguise as a woman?) He explains that in the series his character is to please his mother and make her happy. He will have another woman’s costume for when he disguises as the village maid. He jokes that for that outfit they added his chest bigger than Mimi Chu’s and he found it hard to adapt with. (Asked whether he thought he looked beautiful?) “I just think I look very silly. While my make-up artist was applying my nails with nail varnish, I felt very stiff. I never knew that applying make-up would take so long and it had taken 2 hours. But the most painful part was wearing a tight waist band”.

The reporter then asked Sammul if he had heard about the news earlier about a male teacher and his student having an affair. The reports stated that the male teacher resembled Sammul. “I have heard about that news and I had studied at that school while I was in form 1. But I don’t know that teacher. If you have to report that he resembles me then all I can say is that we both look-alike because we are both men”.

After a series of testing fake bosoms and makeup, Sammul Chan ended up as an ancient beauty, on addition, his hands were raised gracefully, and when the producer spotted this, he was really high and stood on a stool, and praised: "I've never seen an actor that is so pretty when dressed up as a girl!"

Becoming a lady, Sammul Chan was in good graces easily!

Sammul Chan, who had just finished filming《學警狙擊》, did not have to have to be an evil man in the new series 《王老虎搶親》, but he had to have the potential to be an ancient beauty.

In the new series, Sammul Chan acted as one of the 4 talented scholars, Chou Man Bun (周文斌), and was the main lead together with Chin Ka Lok, who acted as Tiger Wong (王老虎). Because Chou Man Bun lost his sister when he was very young, in order to make his mother happy, he frequently dressed up as a lady and acted as his sister, and even went out to trick people. And in one scene, Sammul Chan who was dressed as an ancient beauty, was spotted and snatched by Tiger Wong Chin Ka Lok.

Because he had to act as a lady, Sammul Chan was unwilling at first.

Sammul said : "At first when I knew I had to dress up as a lady, I felt that it was not a good role. But later when I read the script, I found that it was a good role, and the scenes where I had to dress up as a lady was reasonable, and not purposely to portray me as a female, on addition, I had not filmed in a comedy series before, thus I accepted the role, and even when the producer explained the scenes in detail, he wont remember to tease me. I am anticipating this role as I felt that it would have good effect."

Last Friday (13 June), Sammul Chan went back to the television station for his costume fitting, Producer 潘嘉德 was in charge and arranged for two makeup-artist to help Sammul Chan do his makeup, wear his wig, draw his eyebrows, put on fake eyelashes and even paint his nails.

Sammul Chan said: "You know, guys rarely makeup, and at the most, we would just apply foundation and this could be done quickly, but this time, it took two hours to do my makeup, now I know that it takes so long for a lady to finish her makeup!”

Being a lady isn't simple, but, Sammul felt that all the hard work was worth it, on the day itself, he transformed into an ancient beauty, although his movements were rather stiff, on addition that his was quite big-size and lack of the figure, but every crew who walked pass praised him, to the extreme that Producer 潘嘉德 nearly fainted on sight of Sammul, claiming that : "I've never seen an actor that is so pretty when dressed up as a girl!"

From the scene, it could be seen that Producer 潘嘉德 was very high, and when Sammul was mobbed by the reporters, he even went to stand on the long bench at the side, and occupied the best place to 'drool'’, he even took a silk handkerchief and taught Sammul some 'seductive' hand movements. The trick to acting as a lady, it seems like the producer is still really experienced.

Cast Of 'Wong Lo Fu' Hysterical On Set

The blessing ceremony for TVB period comedy Wong Lo Fu Snatches His Bride <王老虎搶親> was held today at TVB City, attended by cast members including Chin Ka Lok (錢嘉樂), Sammul Chan (陳鍵鋒), Louisa So (蘇玉華) and Nancy Wu (胡定欣).

Sammul had earlier received comments that his female costume made him look like Ka Lok's former girlfriend Lee San San (李珊珊). When Ka Lok was asked about this, he smiled that Sammul looked more like Sandy Lam (林珊珊) instead. Asked if he thought that Sammul's San San or the real San San was prettier, he said that the fake woman cannot be compared with a real woman. Then he laughed that the male and female forms of Sammul are both very pretty.

Ka Lok's character is planned to have some quite intimate scenes with the female Sammul, so asked if he felt that this may bring out some memories for him, Ka Lok changed the subject and then added that he is very professional.

Louisa plays a heroine in the series and was made up in a very masculine way for the ceremony, making her look extremely comedic. She revealed that she will look like this for the first five episodes of the series, until she meets Sammul's character who helps her to look pretty.
Louisa revealed that since starting to film on this show, they have often had NG's (outtakes) because they keep laughing at each other. Asked if she felt Sammul's female costume made him look like San San, Louisa said that she did not agree about the facial appearance,but the figure was very similar.

Sammul said that he has been using a lot of energy laughing whilst filming this series, especially during a scene where he had to inspect the faeces of Ka Lok's character.
