Default Did Hung 7 Gung have anything to fear from the Jin flunkies even when he was injured?

Two years passed during LOCH from the time that North Beggar Hung 7 Gung was critically injured by West Poison Au Yeung Fung during their duel on the latter's yacht and Hung's full recovery from that injury shortly before the Second Mt. Hua Sword Tournament.

Hung 7 Gung's recovery process could be characterized as gradual. Immediately after being injured, Hung 7 Gung was near death. After Gwok Jing showed up on the deserted island where everybody (i.e. Hung 7 Gung, Wong Yung, Au Yeung Hak, Au Yeung Fung, Gwok Jing) washed up after their vessels had sunk at sea, Hung 7 Gung was able to stabilize his injury by using the partial 9 Yum Jen Ging that Gwok Jing provided him. Hung's life was no longer in imminent danger at this point, but his overall health was still poor and his mobility impaired. Using his martial arts skills at this point was out of the question.

Flash forward around a year to the time just after the Gong Nam 5 Freaks had been murdered on Peach Blossom Island. Hung 7 Gung's inner power was still inaccessible to him, meaning that his Hong Lung 18 Palms were useless, but his overall health wasn't so poor and he had regained his full range of normal mobility. During this stage of his recovery, Hung 7 Gung could go about normal everyday activities without any impairment. He just couldn't go picking fights against the other Greats.

Now because Hung 7 Gung's injury hampered his ability to use inner power, he was unable to use his Hong Lung 18 Palms, which is dependent on inner power. The Dog Beating Stick Technique, however, requires no inner power to use. Since Hung 7 Gung's normal range of mobility was no longer hampered by his injuries at the time that Gwok Jing and the Cheun Jen 6.5 Disciples faced off against East Heretic Wong Yerk See at the Misty Rain Pavilion Restaurant in Ga Hing, he should not have much difficulty dealing with the likes of Jin mercenaries Sa Tung Teen, Pang Lin Fu, Leung Tze Yung, etc. Hung 7 Gung's superior technique, even without inner power, should be more than enough to overcome the Jin flunkies' martial arts.

But during this period, I think Hung 7 Gung was depicted as being helpless against the Jin flunkies; they were actually able to bully him.

    How?

You have to ask TVB for that one.

    Not in the novel, methinks.

At one point, the flunkies cornered H7G, Ke Zhen E and Zhou Botong. They occupied ZBT by getting him into a non-blinking contest with Supreme Reverence Lingzhi (after sealing Lingzhi's acupoints so he couldn't move), then went after H7G who was hiding in a cave, but were held at bay by Ke Zhen E. Guo Jing and Huang Rong frightened them away, before Ke Zhen E attacked the "little demoness" (only to be knocked flying by Guo Jing).

The next time the flunkies met H7G again, H7G had recovered to some extent, so that externally he seemed to be back to full power. Indeed, Ouyang Feng was sufficiently worried to seek a guarantee that he wouldn't intervene in the upcoming fights, fearing that 1 Huang Yaoshi + 1 Hong Qigong = 1 dead Ouyang Feng.

I've aways wondered how Ke Zhen E can hold off all of the flunkies by himself. That cave must have had a really small opening and he must have had a lot of those little shuriken-like thingies with him.
