    Default spiciest foods

which region of people generally have the spiciest foods?
i don't mean one dish only, but over the array of dishes special to the region
could be countries (ie. Korea, Thailand, India, Mexico) or regions of countries (ie. Sichuan, Hunan)

and on top of that, which region of people have highest spice tolerence?

Lots of Singaporean food have incorporated spices... does that count?

I personally think that Thai foods are the spiciest. When you ask for the dishes to be cooked spicy at a Thai restaurant, the waiter will ask if you want it, "medium, hot, or Thai hot." If you responded "Thai hot," then either you are Thai or you are sitting at my table.

OMG, why do you have to get me started on spicy Thai foods. I'm starving! I, especially, love the spicy tom yum soup, pad thai, and papaya salad.

Ooooooohhhhh, yummmmmmy! It's very unfortunate that the only dish I've ever had that is related to Singapore is "Singapore Street Noodles." Are Singaporean cuisines very much like Chinese cuisines? I have never come across a Singaporean restaurant before.

For Korean dishes, I absolutely love their stews, tukbokki, and Kimchi Boukum...the spicier the better.

We have a good cultural mix here.

We have Chinese food from different ethnic groups, Malay food, Indian food, nonya food and etc.

You are going to eat? No fair. I will just get myself garlic bread if there's some remaining...

I love Indian food best! It's not only about hot, hot, hot. But you can taste the spices added, no ajinomoto. Although I'm no indian, but I know traditional indians don't believe in using that msg thing. Northern or Southern Indian food, are just as good. I want mutton!

And, this to add, a complete set of Indian meal includes the yoghurt. (Yoghurt's been too commercialised now. Maybe not many outthere knows, this yoghurt idea originates from Indians actually.)

Aiya, I made spicy kimchi stew and forgot to take a picture of it for you until I was half-way finished with the food.

RC, I'm quite picky when it comes to Indian foods. I find em' to be a bit dried. It's ironic that they don't use MSG in their foods, but I tend to drink the most water when I eat Indian foods. I love the traditional Indian breads, Nan and Samosa. My personal favorites are Tandorri Chicken and Lamb dishes.

LOL, Bel, I think maybe it's due to their thick gravy in the food. Or, could be certain spices that comes with the same effect as msg.

BTW, the picture of the Kimchi noodle? The korean noodle....is very very tempting.....*drools like opened tap*

considering MSG is a 20th century concoction, most traditional food shouldn't believe in MSG. certain restaurants however, need to make quick business.

I heard that true Sichuan dishes are super hot. The dishes served in Sichuan restaurant in other countries has already been toned down to be less spicey.

    Yeah, that's true.

Actually, msg is not a habitual add-on flavour for the Indian food. It has been a practice for Indians to rely on the flavours of spices for the taste. Then again, as you've mentioned, the quick business tactic applies.

Which type of laksa? Penang laksa, Malay laksa, Sarawak laksa or Singapore laksa? They all taste different.
